About the jobThe Conversational Agents Organization at Twilio is building the bridge between AI agents and the Twilio platform. We are seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead the Agent Implementations team. This role will lead the team responsible for building and operating best in class agents that power Twilio's own business workflows. ResponsibilitiesIn this role, you'll:
- Lead the engineering strategy and execution for enabling customer AI agents to securely and reliably consume Twilio platform capabilities.
- Build and scale systems that power AI agents for Twilio's internal business operations, improving efficiency and automation.
- Collaborate across product, platform, security, and go-to-market teams to identify high-impact AI agent use cases and deliver production-ready solutions.
- Cultivate a high-performing engineering team by hiring, mentoring, and developing managers and engineers across a rapidly evolving technical space.
- Drive operational excellence by establishing clear metrics, performing roadmap planning, and ensuring reliability, compliance, and continuous improvement.
- Acquire new technical skills and knowledge in a fast-paced, high-delivery environment. There will be a steep learning curve to this job, you should be comfortable diving in the deep end and creating clarity for yourself.

Required:- 5+ years hands on experience as an engineer writing production-grade code in a modern programming language (language agnostic)
- 3+ years of experience directly supervising teams of engineers across different disciplines.
- Experience fostering a culture of technical excellence and guiding a team through technical design decisions
- Proven track record of shipping products to production, testing ideas early with customers and iterating rapidly on their feedback.
- Strong customer focus, our feedback loop with customers will be very tight
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Our ideas will only be as good as our ability to share them.
- Passion for emerging technologies and staying up to date on their latest developments
Desired:- Experience building a product from idea to product market fit (zero to one).
- Experience leading the development of products or features which leverage LLMs
- Builder at heart. Through a hobby or your profession, you are passionate about being hands on and seeing your work come to life.
LocationThis role will be remote, but is not eligible to be hired in San Francisco, CA, Oakland, CA, San Jose, CA, or the surrounding areas.

Compensation*Please note the salary range information provided applies only to candidates residing in California, Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Vermont, Washington D.C., and Washington State due to local requirements. Compensation for candidates in other locations will be discussed during the hiring process. Please note that hiring for this role is not restricted to the locations listed above.
The estimated pay ranges for this role are as follows:
- Based in Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Vermont or Washington D.C. : $207,200.00 - 259,000.00.
- Based in New York, New Jersey, Washington State, or California (outside of the San Francisco Bay area): $219,360.00 - 274,200.00
- Based in the San Francisco Bay area, California: $243,680.00 - 304,600.00
This role may be eligible to participate in Twilio's equity plan and corporate bonus plan. All roles are generally eligible for the following benefits: health care insurance, 401(k) retirement account, paid sick time, paid personal time off, paid parental leave.
The successful candidate's starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location.
