We're looking for a
Senior Engineering Manager to lead the team building the product experience for
Aerospike Cloud-our multi-cloud, fully managed database service.
This team owns the surfaces and systems customers use to interact with the cloud: the
console and APIs, billing and licensing, usage and telemetry, and the workflows that make Aerospike Cloud intuitive and easy to operate.
You'll lead, hire, and grow a team of frontend and full-stack engineers while owning the technical direction and execution of these product areas. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys working at the intersection of
product and infrastructure and staying close to architecture, product decisions, and production execution.
Bay Area-based team members work from the office three days per week, typically Tuesday through Thursday.
What You'll Do- Own the Cloud product experience. Lead engineering for the console, APIs, and workflows customers use to provision, manage, and understand Aerospike Cloud.
- Lead and grow the team. Hire, coach, and develop frontend and full-stack engineers while building a strong culture of ownership and execution.
- Build the systems behind the experience. Own capabilities spanning usage metering, billing, licensing and entitlements, and customer-facing telemetry.
- Set the technical direction. Stay close to architecture and code, make pragmatic technology choices, and maintain a high engineering bar across frontend, APIs, and services.
- Make the Cloud observable. Give customers clear visibility into database health, performance, usage, and cost.
- Ship across boundaries. Partner closely with Product, Design, Finance, and Control Plane teams to turn complex infrastructure capabilities into simple product experiences.
- Own what you ship. Establish reliability and product metrics and ensure the team's services operate well in production.
What We're Looking For- 7+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years managing engineering teams.
- Proven experience hiring, coaching, and developing engineers and building high-performing teams.
- Strong technical background in frontend or full-stack engineering, ideally with React, TypeScript, APIs, and cloud-native services.
- Experience leading teams building customer-facing SaaS, developer platforms, cloud consoles, or infrastructure products.
- Demonstrated ability to stay close to architecture and technical decisions while giving engineers clear ownership.
- Strong product instincts and experience partnering closely with Product and Design.
- Experience working across organizational boundaries and translating complex business and technical requirements into an executable roadmap.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure and modern cloud-native environments.
- Experience operating production systems where reliability, correctness, and operational ownership matter.
Nice to Have- Experience building a developer console, admin portal, or control plane for a database, cloud, or infrastructure product.
- Experience with billing, usage metering, licensing, or entitlements.
- Experience building customer-facing metrics, telemetry, or observability experiences.
- Familiarity with OpenTelemetry, Datadog, Prometheus, or Grafana.
- Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, Go, Node.js, or Temporal.
- Familiarity with distributed systems or high-scale databases.
Salary Range: $250,000 - $310,000
(Actual compensation will be based on experience, location, and other relevant factors.)
