Citi is looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to lead Android engineering excellence within the Citi Mobile App, owning the technical strategy and delivery of the Money Movement domain at a global scale. In this role, you will establish and lead a Center of Excellence for Android development, shaping how millions of customers move money securely and seamlessly through one of the world's most widely used banking applications. This is a rare opportunity to combine deep technical craftsmanship with people leadership, AI-driven development practices, and measurable business impact at a firm operating at the forefront of global financial services.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead the Android engineering function for the Money Movement domain within the Citi Mobile App, establishing a Center of Excellence that defines standards, patterns, and practices for high-quality Android development across multiple teams.
  • Architect and deliver scalable, reusable, and high-performance Android solutions developed in Kotlin capable of supporting very high transaction volumes, maintaining a zero-defect and zero-production-issue engineering culture.
  • Drive AI-driven and agentic development practices across the full product delivery lifecycle, staying ahead of emerging Android technology trends and integrating them into engineering strategy.
  • Lead and actively contribute to critical-path code for large-scale Android initiatives, including new feature development and significant refactoring efforts, setting a technical bar that others aspire to meet.

  • Attract, develop, and retain senior engineering talent by setting high performance standards, sharing talent development best practices, and building individual capability through active mentorship and structured coaching.
  • Build and communicate a clear engineering vision aligned to broader organizational goals, translating strategic direction into team priorities and measurable delivery outcomes.

  • Proven ability to design mobile architectures that are scalable, reusable, and optimized for performance under very high volume conditions.
  • Hands-on experience leading engineering teams in fast-paced, high-growth environments where technical priorities evolve rapidly and quality cannot be compromised.
  • Ability to apply data and metrics to validate technical decisions, build engineering cases, and measure the outcomes of architectural choices.
  • First-class leadership and communication skills, including the ability to align senior stakeholders, build consensus across teams, and resolve technical disagreements effectively.
  • Full people management experience, including hiring, performance evaluation, career development, and budget accountability for engineering teams.
  • Commitment to risk-aware engineering, including sound judgment in identifying and escalating compliance, security, or quality control issues with transparency.
  • Experience adopting or leading AI-driven and agentic development approaches within software delivery workflows.
  • Background in financial services, fintech, or payments technology, particularly in mobile money movement or transactional product delivery.
  • Familiarity with driving software engineering best practices across multiple teams simultaneously, including security by design and operational excellence frameworks.

Education:
