Job Description

Provide engineering and consulting services for a broad array of projects and clients. This may include performing and/or leading field investigations, engineering analysis, calculations, and recommendations, design and development of plans and specifications, observation and inspection, and the writing, preparation, and review of related reports for the services provided. Review drawings and construction to assure compliance with plans and specifications. Prepare proposals and cost estimates, track and evaluate project progress, budgets, and recommend changes. Research and resolve design and construction problems. Assign, review, and evaluate laboratory or field data for inclusion in reports. Apply sound engineering principles and be able to communicate complex engineering issues and concepts to technical and non-technical clients and project teams. Services may be provided for existing or proposed projects in a variety of sectors, including for example public works, transportation, commercial, communications, energy, and industrial.

Responsible for continuous quality monitoring and improvement on projects. Monitor and promote quality standards and practices.

Responsible for providing consistent quality standards on project and proposal delivery.

Ensure quality practices are being followed and hold Managers accountable for quality control standards.

Manage risk related to projects. Ensure contracts are signed and fully executed prior to commencing work. Monitor adherence to corporate risk policies and practices. Hold Managers accountable for mitigating or eliminating risk.

Senior Consulting level engineering professional who acts as a resource and specialist in the application of advanced theories, concepts and principles for a major engineering discipline.

Provide leadership, direction and promote a state-of-the art approach for a major engineering discipline of the firm.

Capable of analyzing all technical aspects of subject area, defining scope and selecting problems for investigation, developing novel concepts and approaches, and recommending major design changes.

Full technical responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating engineering assignments involving unique or controversial problems which significantly affect projects.

Plan, organize and supervise design engineering activities for major projects of large scale and complexity.

Provides consultation on quality issues.

Act as expert witness on behalf of company to clients or representing company in litigation or court proceedings.

Identifies potential clients in need of consulting expertise and sells the services of the company to those clients.

Participates in the development of marketing strategies and formal presentations of qualifications to clients on various projects in area of expertise.

Publish technical articles, present technical papers and training seminars to technical groups to promote the professional image and reputation of the company.

Known in the industry as an expert in a major engineering discipline.

Maintain leadership level influence with appropriate technical committees and societies. Actively participate in professional organizations.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering.

Minimum 20 years' experience which may include advanced study and research in field.

Master's degree or PhD in Engineering preferred.

A valid driver's license with acceptable violation history may be required.

Required Qualifications:

Service Line Director Committee approval required

Terracon Authorized Project Reviewer status required or recognized as a specialized technical subject matter expert (SME).
