Full Job Description
The Senior Engineering Build Integration Specialist is responsible for leading and driving operational execution across material management, quality management, prototype build readiness, quote support, ISO/process compliance, lessons learned, and build-related readiness activities. This role serves as a senior individual contributor within the Vehicle Engineering department and is expected to independently manage assigned workstreams, identify risks, drive follow-up, and support cross-functional issue resolution. The role works closely with engineering, purchasing, quality, suppliers, technicians, program management, and leadership to ensure prototype and product development activities are planned, supported, documented, and executed effectively.

As a Senior Engineering Build Integration Specialist, you will:
  • Material readiness and supplier follow-up: Lead supplier timing, purchase order status, material receipts, shortages, substitutions, staging, and high-risk components required to support prototype and development builds
  • Prototype build planning and execution support: Lead build readiness reviews and track BOM status, released documentation, material availability, tooling, build equipment needs, inspection needs, open issues, rework, deviations, and assigned action items
  • Quality tracking and issue closure support: Lead inspection concerns, nonconforming material, supplier issues, rework items, corrective actions, containment activities, and quality documentation through closure
  • Quote management support: Collect, review, and validate operational inputs related to supplier quotes, material costs, lead times, tooling, build support needs, labor assumptions, risk items, and open commercial or technical assumptions
  • ISO, process, and documentation management support: Maintain operational procedures, work instructions, forms, controlled documents, audit evidence, corrective action records, and process compliance documentation
  • Lessons learned and continuous improvement tracking: Capture recurring issues, build concerns, supplier problems, quality escapes, material gaps, and process issues, then track assigned improvement actions through completion
  • Operational reporting and escalation support: Prepare status summaries, shortage reports, risk logs, issue trackers, build readiness updates, and escalation recommendations for the Operations Manager and program leadership
To be considered as a Senior Engineering Build Integration Specialist, you will need:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in operations, purchasing, material planning, prototype build support, quality, manufacturing, engineering services, supply chain, or a related technical environment
  • Experience independently coordinating material readiness, supplier follow-up, prototype build readiness, quality issue tracking, and cross-functional operational issue resolution
  • Experience working with engineering, purchasing, quality, suppliers, technicians, program management, and leadership
  • Experience tracking material status, supplier timing, shortages, open issues, work orders, quality concerns, or build readiness items
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, APQP, PPAP, supplier quality, NCRs, CARs, corrective actions, audit support, or document control
  • Familiarity with BOMs, purchase orders, supplier lead times, inspection documentation, corrective actions, prototype builds, or low-volume build environments
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, Outlook, Teams, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint or similar systems
  • Strong ownership, follow-through, and ability to drive assigned actions to closure
  • Strong understanding of material readiness, supplier follow-up, build support, issue tracking, and cross-functional coordination
  • Ability to organize complex operational information into clear trackers, summaries, dashboards, and escalation reports
  • Ability to identify risks related to timing, materials, quality, suppliers, documentation, tooling, build readiness, or prototype execution
  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive closure without direct reporting authority
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with engineering, purchasing, quality, suppliers, technicians, program teams, and leadership
  • Ability to operate independently in a fast-paced prototype or product development environment
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities

A successful candidate may also have:
  • Associate degree, bachelor's degree, technical certification, or equivalent experience in business, operations, supply chain, manufacturing, quality, engineering technology, or a related field
  • 10+ years of experience in a technical operations, engineering services, prototype, automotive, aerospace, defense, commercial vehicle, or low-volume manufacturing environment
  • Experience supporting prototype vehicle builds, component builds, special projects, or engineering development programs
  • Experience using ERP, MRP, PLM, QMS, SharePoint, or project/action tracking systems
  • Experience developing operational dashboards, build readiness summaries, shortage reports, issue trackers, and escalation recommendations
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001, gated product development processes, build readiness reviews, quality documentation, and corrective action processes
  • Understanding of APQP, PPAP, supplier quality, inspection planning, material planning, and program risk management
  • Ability to support process development, process improvement, and lessons learned implementation
  • Ability to interpret BOMs, engineering documentation, supplier inputs, material requirements, and build status information
  • Ability to provide recommendations to leadership based on operational risk, build readiness, material status, and quality concerns
