Job Description Join a New Product Development team at BD!  A Systems Engineer in this role is responsible for using their broad technical expertise, leadership skills, and product development knowledge to provide Systems leadership through various phases of the product life cycle.   This Systems Engineer translates voice of customer and stakeholder needs into system and product requirements, identifies potential hazards and assesses requirements to ensure that the product meets the user/business needs, develops design and process specifications for new hardware and software products, ensures completion of product verification and validation, and provides support in sustaining activities.   The expectation for a Senior Systems Engineer is that they regularly serve on smaller project core teams, act as a leader of technical excellence, and participate as an agent for continuous improvement within the Systems Engineering function. As such, they are expected to help identify tasks/resources and fulfill them to ensure that critical project milestones are met and systems integration activities are completed.  What is expected of you for success in your role?  3Intimate knowledge of the product development lifecycle from concept through launch  3Responsible for leading and coordinating system/product-level feasibility, risks assessments, requirements generation, system-level product development, reliability planning and execution, integration planning, verification & validation planning, coordination, and execution, etc.  3Facilitates cross-functional knowledge and examines system behaviors to promote the understanding and resolution of in-market and product development issues, opportunities, and technical risks to drive continuous improvement efforts and new product introduction  3Applies Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) best practices on all projects  Qualifications  3Must have a Bachelors degree in Science or Engineering. A postgraduate degree is preferred.  3At least 5 years related work experience required (combination of work experience and advanced degrees).  3Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.  3Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence across disciplines, for example: interdepartmental (with fellow engineers), cross-functional (with Marketing, Clinical Representatives, Software Engineers, Test Engineers, Quality Engineers, Manufacturing, Regulatory, etc.)  3A strong technical background within Systems Engineering, medical device development, or similar.  3Experience with Systems Engineering and requirements management.  3Familiar with systems integration and testing, system architectural planning and design, Reliability Engineering, Project Management, and Failure Modes Effects Analysis.  3DFSS knowledge and experience or statistical test design and analysis knowledge.  3Must have very strong writing skills.  3Attention to detail is paramount.  3Ability to identify opportunities for continuous improvement projects/efforts.  At BD, we prioritize on-site collaboration because we believe it fosters creativity, innovation, and effective problem-solving, which are essential in the fast-paced healthcare industry.
