Full Job Description
YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

Reporting to the General Supervisor - Rock Mechanics, you will be part of the Engineering Department. You will be responsible for conducting rock mechanics studies in various mining areas and for engaging external consultants as needed. You will need to understand and expand our knowledge of the rock mass in relation to mining activities. Monitoring seismic activity will be a key part of your work in order to understand and adapt the operation's working methods. You will also help expand the underground mine's seismic monitoring system. You will also play a role in analyzing the stability of active sites and will be expected to suggest changes to mining sequences as needed. Within the team, you will provide support to ground control staff. You will ensure that objectives are met while promoting and upholding Agnico Eagle's values, its code of conduct regarding health and safety, and its environmental policies.

In this role, you will need to:

  • Comply with health, safety, and environmental policies and rules at all times;
  • Ensure that projects comply with environmental requirements;
  • Conduct rock mechanics studies in various mining areas;
  • Hire external consultants as needed;
  • Supervise the rock mechanics team;
  • Plan and monitor the required geotechnical drilling campaigns related to the progress of rock mechanics studies for future mining areas;
  • Take part in planning the stope mining sequence and in working sites design exercises;
  • Perform all other related tasks.


WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Hold a Bachelor's degree in mining engineering or geological engineering;
  • A Master's degree in rock mechanics is an asset;
  • Be a member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec;
  • Have a valid General Explosives Permit;
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite tools;
  • Have knowledge of the Deswik software (an asset);
  • Have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in rock mechanics;
  • Demonstrate a high degree of autonomy and initiative;
  • Be rigorous and precise in your work;
  • Possess good judgment, a critical mind, and strong analytical reasoning skills;
  • Have the ability to work in a team and foster collaboration;
  • Have strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Schedule: 5-2/4-3
  • Work location: Remote work with occasional trips to the Odyssey mine
