Now Brewing! senior engineer, Microsoft 365 Messaging & Collaboration (ST) Nashville, TNAs a Senior Engineer - Microsoft 365 Messaging & Collaboration, you will design, secure, automate, and support Starbucks' global Microsoft 365 messaging and collaboration platforms, with primary focus on Exchange, Exchange Online, hybrid mail flow, and Microsoft Purview. This role partners with infrastructure, security, compliance, architecture, and business teams to keep enterprise messaging services reliable, compliant, scalable, and ready for future collaboration capabilities.
As a
senior engineer, you will:
- Engineer, administer, and support global Exchange, Exchange Online, and hybrid messaging environments, including mail flow, transport, authentication, directory synchronization, and service reliability.
- Administer Microsoft 365 messaging and collaboration services, including Exchange Online, Entra ID integrations, and Purview.
- Partner with Security, Legal, Privacy, Risk, Compliance, Architecture, and Infrastructure teams to implement Microsoft Purview governance, retention, eDiscovery, and information protection solutions.
- Support tenant governance, lifecycle management, service modernization, migrations, and strategic initiatives such as Microsoft Copilot.
- Build automation using PowerShell, Microsoft Graph API, Azure Automation, and related technologies to improve operational efficiency, reliability, and reporting.

- 7+ years of experience in systems engineering, infrastructure engineering, or enterprise messaging administration.
- 5+ years of experience supporting Microsoft Exchange Server, Exchange Online, and Microsoft 365 in large enterprise environments.
- Experience designing, implementing, and supporting Exchange Hybrid configurations.
- Strong knowledge of mail routing, SMTP, hybrid mail flow, authentication, certificate management, and highly available messaging systems.
- Advanced PowerShell scripting experience for automation, administration, and reporting.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, communication, and prioritization skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Microsoft Purview compliance, information protection, retention, records management, eDiscovery, legal hold, and sensitivity labels.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID, Conditional Access, Identity Governance, Microsoft Graph API, and Azure Automation.
- Experience supporting Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365, cross-tenant migrations, or large-scale mailbox migrations.
- Experience with enterprise messaging security solutions such as F5 BIG-IP, Cisco IronPort, or equivalent platforms.
- Microsoft certifications related to Microsoft 365, Exchange, Security, or Compliance.

*If you are working in CA, CO, IL, LA, ME, MA, NE, ND or RI, you will accrue vacation up to a maximum of 120 hours (190 in CA) for roles below director and 200 hours (316 in CA) for roles at director or above. For roles in other states, you will be granted vacation time starting at 120 hours annually for roles below director and 200 hours annually for roles director and above.
The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity. At Starbucks, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
