Overview

Position Summary:

Using Engineering procedures standard for research and development, carries out assignments associated with research, design, development, support or manufacturing of specific parts, processes, software or components of medical diagnostic systems. Independently evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications. Under the general direction of a functional manager, with moderate latitude for self-direction, operates in one or more areas of responsibility within a specific function.

Responsibilities

Key Accountabilities/Essential Functions: update to the following:
    • Designs and develops complex components and sub-assemblies for use in the end-product using 3D CAD mechanical design and analysis tools
    • Designs fixturing for test and assembly of complex systems.
    • Capable of working with off-the-shelf or microcontroller-based software/firmware for hardware control
    • Upholds group and industry standards in the design and drafting of mechanical components and assemblies
    • Analyzes sources of design variation including mechanical tolerance stack-up calculations
    • Analyzes system functionality and prepares engineering specifications to fulfil design requirements
    • Collects, Analyzes, and interprets mechanical performance and manufacturing data. Identifies trends and formulates next steps to fully accomplish product specifications.
    • Hosts appropriate design & peer reviews of new designs and analyses
    • Effectively communicates complex technical information to a cross-functional team in the form of documentation, presentations, or technical summaries.
    • Identifies product defects and recognizes outliers in results. Can explain and document product defects and their impact
    • Provides technical support and leads investigations in support of development and/or on-market activities
    • Demonstrates technical confidence to interact with engineers of other disciplines, supports technical discussions, and demonstrates the ability to make technical decisions.
    • Authors documentation and participates in activities in support of design control
    • Provides input and independently generates schedules for tasks related to assigned projects.

Secondary Functions:
  • May review and provide input to deliverables from other functions.
  • Recommends and implements improvement initiatives to aid department practices.

Qualifications

Minimum Knowledge & Experience Required for the Position:

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science or a related field

Experience:
  • Eight years of product development or relevant experience
  • Four to six years of product development or relevant experience for advanced degrees
  • For internal candidate promotion: Demonstrated proficiency in meeting all competencies of current level and acceptable performance history may be used in lieu of experience
  • In vitro medical device experience highly desired.

Additional Skills/Knowledge:
  • Language: Proficiency in English language required

Travel Requirements:
  • Some domestic and international travel may be required.

The annual base salary range for this role is currently $130,000 to $160,000. Individual employee compensation will ultimately depend on factors including education, relevant experience, skillset, knowledge, and particular business needs.

This role is eligible for medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401k plan retirement benefits with an employer match, as well as paid vacation and sick leave. Our sales roles are eligible for participation in a commission plan and our management, and select professional roles, are eligible for a performance-based bonus.
