Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced engineer to join our Secure Products Group (SPG) in Colorado Springs, CO. This position will have a primary focus on New Product Development (NPD) and sustaining engineering for Microchip's SPG. The ideal candidate will think critically and strategically, communicate effectively, be influencing, have strong problem solving and technical skills, and be able to learn, utilize, or implement new methods, processes, and equipment.


The Product Engineer is a key part of the Product Development team closely collaborating with cross functional groups that include Product Design, Test Engineering, Quality, Failure Analysis, Yield Enhancement Engineering as well as others in order to deliver high quality Security Products to the market.

Microchip’s Secure Products Group develops and supports a line of cryptographic hardware products for Automotive, IOT, Medical, Consumer, and Industrial markets.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Act as Project Manager or provide support to a Project Manager for New Product Development to release new products for production

  • Assume ownership of assigned products in production to monitor and sustain product performance and profitability

  • Provide technical assistance for customer returns as needed

  • Provide support to other team members for various product support needs as assigned

  • Prepare overall project, characterization, qualification plans, and product documentation

  • Validate and characterize silicon

  • Participate in new product development teams and track project progress from project kick-off to release to production

  • Ensure devices are manufacturable and are setup correctly in the production system

  • Debug problems in an organized and efficient manner

  • Team lead in root cause analysis and problem solving efforts

  • Perform other job related tasks as directed by the manager.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • BSEE, MSEE, or equivalent, with 5 - 7.5 years of industry experience.

  • Familiarity with product life cycles a plus

  • Proven debug and problem solving skills

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • High proficiency with Microsoft tools to include Word, Excel, and Power Point

  • Familiarity with setup and use of lab test equipment

  • Ability to work individually, with local team members, and with off-site and cross-functional teams

  • Ability to analyze and present data with clarity and proficiency

  • Proficient in the use of standard office computer equipment and business applications.

The annual base salary range for this position, which could be performed in the US, is $70,000 - $105,000.*

*Range is dependent on numerous factors including job location, skills and experience.
