Job Summary Consumer Cellular is seeking a
Senior Engineer, DevOps who will serve as forward-thinking technologists and hands-on builders. These individuals will be responsible for advancing our cloud and automation capabilities while scanning the startup ecosystem to surface and adopt next-generation tools and practices before the competition.
This is not a maintenance role. We are looking for engineers who are energized by ambiguity, thrive in fast-moving environments, and bring the execution speed of a startup to an established organization. You will work alongside application, infrastructure, and product teams to reshape how we build, deploy, and operate software at scale.
You will need to reside within 50 miles of our Corporate Headquarters in Scottsdale, AZ as this role has the option of hybrid or onsite. Key Responsibilities Startup Ecosystem & Technology Adoption: - Actively scan the startup ecosystem to identify emerging DevOps, cloud-native, and platform engineering technologies with near-term adoption potential.
- Build proofs-of-concept and evaluate new tools through rapid iteration, make a recommendation, build it, and deliver it.
- Serve as an internal technology scout and advocate, presenting findings to engineering leadership.
- Drive adoption of new platforms and frameworks with a bias toward speed and impact over perfection.
CI/CD Pipeline Development: - Design, implement, and maintain continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to automate testing, building, and deployment across all environments.
- Optimize pipeline performance, reliability, and developer experience with a startup-grade sense of urgency.
Infrastructure as Code(IaC): - Use infrastructure automation tools (Terraform, Ansible, TeamCity, Octopus Deploy) to provision and manage on-premise and cloud infrastructure.
- Ensure consistency and repeatability across development, testing, and production environments.
Cloud Infrastructure Management: - Manage and monitor cloud infrastructure (AEM, Azure, GCP) for scalability, availability, and cost optimization.
- Bring a cloud-native, startup-speed mindset to infrastructure decisions.
Containerization & Orchestration: - Partner with Application Engineering to leverage Docker and Kubernetes for containerized, microservices-based deployments.
- Evaluate next-generation orchestration and platform engineering patterns as they emerge from the startup ecosystem.
Automation, Monitoring & Security: - Automate manual processes; create scripts for provisioning, configuration management, and monitoring.
- Implement and improve monitoring solutions (AppDynamics, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack).
- Apply security best practices throughout the DevOps pipeline (DevSecOps).
Collaboration & Documentation: - Partner with software developers, infrastructure, operations, and product teams, and communicate technical trade-offs clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Create and maintain documentation of deployment processes, configurations, and best practices.
