Job Description

The Senior Engagement Director in Medical Communications is responsible for shaping strategic partnerships, driving business growth, and ensuring delivery excellence across complex medical communications engagements. This role partners with executive client stakeholders and cross-functional leadership to define long-term engagement strategies that advance scientific communications objectives while delivering measurable business impact. The Senior Engagement Director provides strategic oversight across multiple programs, mentors senior team members, and plays a key role in growing Klick's Medical Communications business.

What You'll Do
  • Lead executive-level client partnerships by developing long-term medical communications strategies, facilitating strategic planning sessions, and serving as the senior advisor across complex engagements.
  • Direct cross-functional teams spanning Client Services, Medical, Strategy, Creative, Digital, and Regulatory to deliver integrated medical communications programs that achieve client and business objectives.
  • Drive business growth by leading new business pitches, developing strategic proposals, expanding existing client partnerships, and identifying opportunities for innovative medical communications solutions.
  • Guide financial performance by overseeing portfolio forecasting, budgets, resource planning, profitability, and operational excellence across multiple client engagements.
  • Mentor Engagement Directors and Client Services team members while fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, scientific excellence, and continuous improvement across the Medical Communications practice.


Qualifications

Required:
  • 10+ years of experience leading medical communications, healthcare communications, or life sciences agency engagements, including ownership of complex, multi-brand client portfolios.
  • Demonstrated success developing medical communications strategies and leading executive-level client relationships across Commercial and Medical Affairs organizations within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
  • Proven experience leading multidisciplinary teams across Medical, Strategy, Creative, Digital, Regulatory, and Client Services while delivering measurable business and client outcomes.
  • Demonstrated success leading business development initiatives, including strategic proposals, competitive pitches, and organic account growth resulting in expanded client partnerships.
  • Strong financial management experience overseeing forecasting, budgeting, profitability, resource planning, and operational performance across multiple client engagements.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Science, Life Sciences, or a related discipline required; advanced degree preferred.

  • Experience representing an agency or organization through conference presentations, thought leadership, or industry speaking engagements.
