Job Description

Turner & Townsend are looking for an experienced Electrical Estimator / Quantity Surveyor to join our consultancy team supporting the delivery of a major semiconductor manufacturing facility. The successful candidate will be independently responsible for the preparation and presentation of electrical cost estimates, quantity take-offs and commercial management of complex Electrical Building Services and Process Utility installations

The ideal candidate will be driven and promote our Turner & Townsend purposes and values.

Responsibilities:
  • Advising client on strategies, managing prequalification of vendors, assessing proposals, bids, change orders, and bid levelling documents, making final recommendations to the client, attending & chairing bid interviews, and managing appointment process.
  • Ability to independently evaluate contractor and subcontractor tenders and prepare commercial recommendations.
  • Review, validate, and negotiate variations, change orders, and compensation events.
  • Provide side-by-side cost comparison
  • Perform high level review of change orders, validating quantities; rates and scopes of work as aligned with standard industry practices and contract documents
  • Ability to understand Class 2 estimates (Preferred)
  • Self-perform Class 3 estimates on select submissions (as warranted)
  • Manage, review and present estimates of complicated change orders as prepared by the estimating department.
  • Benchmark performance against other successful commissions.
  • Assist with change management in a fast-track design and construction environment.
  • Perform all the duties above through the use/preparation of Bid Analysis Sheets, Change Control Forms, Cost Estimating Software, and Take-off Software.
  • SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role, which are to be adhered to where applicable.


Project/Program specifications:
  • Project/Program specific responsibilities: Provide commercial management support for specialist electrical systems
  • Market sector experience: Industrial Technology, Semiconductor (a plus), Data Center (a plus)
  • Project/program size in dollar value: +$500m (+$2b preferred)
  • System familiarity: Medium/Low voltage, campus power distribution, life safety
  • Software specific requirements: MS Suite, Bluebeam, digital cost management tools and/or estimating software
  • BIM-based quantity extraction (a plus)
  • Knowledge of semiconductor facility infrastructure and construction methodologies (a plus)
  • Familiarity with: NECA, RS Means (a plus)
  • Certification requirements: RICS (a plus)


Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience working in a Quantity Surveying and/or estimating role in the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of construction contracts
  • RICS accredited or working towards it is valuable
  • Experience supporting cost management on medium or large sized construction projects.
  • Construction consultancy experience is strongly preferred.
  • Good knowledge of construction industry technical matters, such as different procurement routes, value management, and value engineering.
  • Strong communication skills.

The salary range for this full-time role is $140K - $155K per year. Ranges are determined by role and level and represent a good faith effort to provide a fair and equitable salary. This range is a reflection of base salary only, not of a total compensation package. Please note Turner & Townsend reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range, depending on candidate's experience and qualifications.
