Senior Electrical Engineer

Work Schedule:

Onsite – Buffalo, NY

Moog Military Aircraft Group in East Aurora, NY is looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to support the design, integration, and test of automatic flight control systems for optionally piloted and unmanned aircraft. This role will also contribute to rapid prototyping efforts for other flight-critical systems across autonomy, avionics, sensing, actuation, power distribution, and embedded electrical interfaces. The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer who can operate across electrical architecture, hardware integration, lab validation, and flight test support in a highly collaborative aerospace development environment. This position plays a key role in advancing flight-critical systems from concept through prototype maturation and system-level integration.

Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical design and integration activities for automatic flight control system hardware and related subsystems
  • Develop electrical architectures, wiring diagrams, harnessing concepts, and interface control documents
  • Define, review, and verify electrical interface requirements across hardware, software, and system boundaries
  • Support selection and integration of avionics, sensors, actuators, compute platforms, and power systems
  • Build, troubleshoot, and validate prototype electrical assemblies and flight-critical hardware
  • Support lab planning, bench testing, integration testing, and flight test preparation
  • Diagnose electrical faults, perform root-cause analysis, and drive corrective actions
  • Collaborate with systems, software, mechanical, manufacturing, and flight test teams to resolve integration issues
  • Support requirements development, technical trade studies, risk assessments, and formal design reviews
  • Contribute to configuration management, documentation, and design assurance for flight-critical systems
  • Evaluate redundancy, reliability, failure modes, and safety impacts of electrical architectures
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership on electrical integration and prototype development

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical design, integration, and test
  • Experience with avionics, embedded systems, or other high-reliability hardware development
  • Strong understanding of electrical interfaces, power distribution, signal integrity, and wiring practices
  • Hands-on experience debugging complex hardware systems in lab and integration environments
  • Ability to read and produce schematics, wiring diagrams, interface documents, and technical specifications
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams supporting aircraft or other safety-critical systems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Salary Range Transparency:

Buffalo, NY $100,000.00–$140,000.00 Annually
