Full Job Description

IMEG is hiring a Senior Electrical Engineer in Kansas City, MO, to lead the delivery of large and highly complex building projects as a project manager or lead engineer. You’ll work closely with a team of engineers and consultants to provide project direction, engineering solutions, and advice to clients to ensure positive outcomes. You will also support budget accountability, mentor and train team members, and collaborate with cross-functional partners to meet project goals and client expectations.

Principal Responsibilities

• Lead design efforts for the analysis of electrical systems, utilizing engineering software and tools to create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations according to code requirements and IMEG standards
• Perform site assessments and develop detailed analysis and technical reports
• Partner with clients to understand needs, gather project requirements, and communicate technical information effectively
• Build and maintain client relationships through professional communication
• Provide in-process design reviews of electrical system design, calculations, specifications, and project correspondence
• Implement IMEG quality control processes to ensure engineering designs and solutions meet IMEG quality standards, industry standards and client requirements
• Provide technical assistance in resolution of field issues with minimal support from senior staff
• Train, mentor, and motivate staff
• Prioritize safety in all aspects of engineering work; identify and mitigate potential safety risks associated with electrical systems
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including other engineers, architects, and project managers, to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals
• Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in electrical engineering; contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts within IMEG
• Participate in project interviews and project presentations

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, required
• Professional Engineer (PE) License preferred
• 10 years of experience minimum required, 12 preferred, in the building design consulting industry
• Adept in the technical aspects of one’s discipline; advanced proficiency in technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles of circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics as they relate to electrical systems
• Knowledge of Illumination Engineering Society (IES) Standards and reference material resources such as NFPA Link, TechStreet, MadCAD, and Facility Guideline Institution (FGI)
• Advanced proficiency of Master Specification editing and software such as eSPECS; Proficient with Adobe or Bluebeam Revu
• Ability to mentor, train, motivate, and lead others
• Ability to perform final quality control check in their area of expertise
• Ability to sell work and develop client relationships
• Strong training and mentoring skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
• Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Ability to travel up to 20% with occasional overnight stays
