The Opportunity

Shape Something Different - This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to join the iconic Centre Block Rehabilitation Project in Ottawa. This position can also support the project from one of WSP's offices in Toronto. Centre Block is a national landmark, housing the Senate and the House of Commons. You'll join an innovative team modernizing and future-proofing this heritage building for generations to come.

Your Impact
  • Provide leadership in developing advanced engineering solutions for electrical and electronic building systems, including:
    • Low voltage power distribution (including emergency power and UPS)
    • Lightning protection and grounding
    • Fire detection and voice alarm
    • Public address systems
    • Passive telecommunications and security infrastructure
    • Lighting and lighting controls systems
    • External underground services infrastructure
  • Develop technical drawings and specifications.
  • Collaborate in a multidisciplinary environment with architects, engineers, and trade contractors to deliver integrated, constructible solutions.
  • Mentor and guide less experienced team members, fostering confidence to tackle complex technical challenges.
  • Conduct quality reviews throughout the design process to ensure compliance with codes, standards, and best practices.

The Skills That Set You Apart
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in Ontario.
  • Minimum 12 years of electrical engineering and design experience on major complex building projects; experience with large-scale, heritage-designated projects is a distinct advantage.
  • Experience with multiple delivery models (CM, Design Build, P3).
  • Detailed working knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code, Ontario Electrical Safety Code, National Building Code of Canada, and Ontario Building Code.
  • Understanding of LEED v4.0 and ASHRAE standards.
  • Working knowledge of CAN/ULC Standards for Life Safety Systems.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Eligibility for Canadian Federal Government Enhanced Reliability clearance is mandatory for this role.

Compensation

BC, AB, SK, NWT & NT: $114,600 - $151,800
MB & ON: $104,500 - $143,900
Atlantic Provinces & QC: $103,500 - $137,400
