Senior Electrical Engineer | Charlotte, NC

IMEG is hiring a Senior Electrical Engineer in Charlotte, North Carolina, to lead design efforts as a project manager or lead engineer for moderate to complex building projects. This role focuses on project management, engineering analysis, design, and implementation oversight of electrical systems while providing project direction, engineering solutions, and technical advice to clients and project teams.

You will work within project budgets, support training and mentoring efforts, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations. Working with a team active in housing and multifamily, commercial, and retail projects throughout the Southeast, you will help deliver integrated building systems solutions while advancing high-performance, energy-efficient design aligned with MEP2050 and AIA2030.

What You'll Do
  • Lead design efforts for the analysis and design of electrical systems for moderate to complex projects.
  • Create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations using engineering software and tools according to code requirements and standards.
  • Perform site assessments and generate detailed analysis and technical reports.
  • Interact with clients to gather project requirements, communicate technical information, and build strong working relationships.
  • Review electrical system designs, calculations, specifications, and project correspondence during design.
  • Implement quality control processes to ensure designs and solutions meet quality standards, industry standards, and client requirements.
  • Provide project direction, engineering solutions, and technical advice in collaboration with engineers and consultants.
  • Train, mentor, and motivate staff.
  • Provide technical assistance to resolve field issues with limited support from senior staff.
  • Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices, contribute to research and innovation efforts, and identify and mitigate safety risks in all aspects of engineering work.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals.
  • Participate in project interviews and project presentations.


What You'll Bring

Required Education
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, required
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License required


Experience
  • 7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the building design consulting industry


Skills and Abilities
  • Adept in the technical aspects of one's discipline; advanced proficiency in technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles of circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics as they relate to electrical systems
  • Knowledge of Illumination Engineering Society (IES) Standards and reference material resources such as NFPA Link, TechStreet, MadCAD, and Facility Guideline Institution (FGI)
  • Advanced proficiency of Master Specification editing and software such as eSPECS; Proficient with Adobe or Bluebeam Revu
  • Ability to mentor, train, motivate, and lead others
  • Ability to perform final quality control check in their area of expertise
  • Ability to sell work and develop client relationships
  • Strong training and mentoring skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to travel up to 20% with occasional overnight stays
