Your OpportunityYou will work as a Senior Electrical Engineer, leading the design of electrical systems for buildings including evaluation, recommendation, and specification of engineered systems or products in compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards / practices.
You will perform a variety of tasks including writing proposals and meetings with both internal and external clients.
Your Key Responsibilities - Responsible for projects of varying complexity/size.
- Evaluates, selects, specifies, and engineers electrical systems or products for a project.
- Engages in the development of a design from preliminary concepts through the construction document stage.
- Understanding of Revit/BIM technologies in development of models of building electrical systems
- Provide markups for engineers and technologists/technicians.
- Leads project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, sub-contractors, and vendors.
- Participate in client project requirement meetings and value analysis and basic cost estimating.
- Assists with developing and managing project scope, budget, staffing and schedule.
- Leads the preparation and coordination of project specifications.
- Performs and oversees the performance of calculations using company standard software, and proprietary manufacturer software.
- Utilizes advanced techniques for the analysis of specialized building electrical elements.
- Participate in constructability review.
- Conducts quality assurance and quality control on own projects.
- Assists in the development of new standards and specifications for the electrical group.
- Works on multiple projects.
Qualifications - Comprehensive knowledge and application of the Canadian Electrical Code and applicable building and energy codes.
- Understanding and experience with all phases of project document production and the drawings and specifications.
- Extensive knowledge and experience with electrical systems means and methods, materials, and industry standards.
- Knowledge of power studies including short circuit, arc flash, and coordination studies.
- Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule.
- Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.
- Thorough understanding of electrical engineering concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others.
- Advanced oral and written communication skills.
- Presentation and interview skills
- Requires understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, Revit, AutoCAD
- Experience with Lighting modeling Software and Newforma preferred.
QualificationsEducation and ExperienceBachelor's degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering & Licensed Professional Engineer in British Columbia.
Minimum 15 years of experience.
Typical hybrid office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for periods of time with standard ergonomic sit-stand desks.
