Position SummaryThe Senior Electrical Engineer is responsible for building systems electrical engineering design, and able to create complete, accurate and functional construction drawings and specifications. Provides technical oversight and serves as a mentor to less experienced electrical engineers and drafters.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe following inexhaustive list of duties represents a sample of work routinely performed by this role:
- Produces engineering design elements consistent with project specifications.
- Produces design elements and troubleshoots flaws in accordance with the project hours, scope, and parameters.
- Produces engineering construction documents based on project specifics.
- Manages project timelines and related design activity communication between the design team and the client accurately and timely.
- Provides assistance in the preparation of proposals and engineering agreements.
- Provides project coordination with in-house and outside sources.
- Provides timely consultation on projects to manage schedules, deadlines, site surveys, punch lists, building codes and standards consistent with company quality standards.
- Accurately and consistently executes QA/QC process.
- Produces accurate and complete engineering project specifications within project parameters.
- Actively participates in post design activities and represents the company in client meetings, through construction completion.
- Actively mentor junior engineers and designers.
- Follows established company policies and procedures.
- Actively engages with other members of the company to continuously strive to improve processes, create efficiencies, and reduce costs.
Qualifications and ExperienceRequired Education, Experience, + Professional Skills- Bachelor's in electrical engineering, electrical engineering technology, or architectural engineering.
- Minimum 8 years in building systems electrical engineering.
- Sound knowledge of building systems electrical engineering fundamentals.
- Excellent communicator, organizer, and engager.
- Thrive in a fast-paced environment with changing demands and priorities.
- Initiate and enjoy independent problem solving and working in the gray areas.
- Successfully incorporate feedback and manage multiple points of view.
- Demonstrate excellent language and written communication skills.
- Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a Real ID or Passport in order to undergo commercial airfare travel.
- Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a valid driver's license.
Preferred Experience + Licensure- PE License
- Previous experience in an architecture, engineering, construction, or related professional service firm.
- Knowledge of Elumtools for completing lighting level calculations in Revit preferred.
Required Technical Skills- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
- Expert level proficiency in utilizing Revit to apply BIM Modeling knowledge to various architectural and engineering projects.
Working EnvironmentWhen not working from a home office, remotely, or onsite at a project location, most of this role is performed in a professional office environment.
This role also requires periodic travel to project sites, including locations undergoing renovation or active construction. During site visits, the employee may be exposed to non-temperature-controlled environments, construction noise, dust, and other typical conditions found on job sites. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required during these visits, depending on site conditions.
While on site visits, an individual in this role will be required to work atypical hours at the request of the client or role demands.Physical DemandsSitting/Standing: This is generally a sedentary role. While on periodic site visits, this role may require walking active construction sites, accessing various building areas, and observing construction progress. Occasional climbing of ladders, traversing uneven surfaces, and use of personal protective equipment may be required.
Walking: This role requires the ability to move about outside in various geographic and building terrains to access a construction site to provide quality assurance services.
Stooping/Kneeling/Crouching/Crawling: This role requires stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and ladder climbing to inspect all aspects of building construction to foundations, crawlspaces, and roofs.
Using Hands/Fingers: This role constantly operates technological office equipment such as laptop, mouse, keyboard, computer monitors, telephones, and scanners, copiers, and fax machines.
Talking/Hearing: This role requires constant communication with others in the organization to exchange information, review information, and make decisions about information.
Seeing: This role requires the ability to see, view, and distinguish all aspects of construction to ensure quality control.
Carrying/Lifting: This role requires lifting up to 30 lbs to transport technological office equipment, safety equipment, and other needed construction items to and from various workspaces.
