Full Job Description

The Senior Electrical Engineer serves as a key technical resource supporting multi‑site capital projects, electrical controls design, and industrial automation initiatives. This role provides expertise in PLC/HMI development, electrical controls integration, troubleshooting, and the standardization of equipment control systems.

You will lead automation upgrades, design control architectures, manage vendor integration, and support system commissioning at multiple Armacell manufacturing sites. This is a high‑impact, hands-on engineering role that drives reliability, safety, and continuous improvement across the region.

Job Responsibilities

Controls & Automation Engineering

  • Design, program, and integrate PLC and HMI systems (Rockwell Automation platforms)

  • Support migrations from legacy Rockwell systems (RSLogix5/500, PanelBuilder32) to Studio 5000 and FactoryTalk View

  • Develop electrical requirements, control system architectures, equipment layouts, and automation standards

  • Maintain and update corporate electrical and controls documentation, schematics, and version control

Capital Project Engineering

  • Provide controls engineering support for large-scale capital projects across multiple plants

  • Manage and execute electrical and controls projects, including automation upgrades, equipment integration, process control enhancements, and infrastructure modifications, from planning to implementation, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.

  • Develop detailed electrical and control system specifications

  • Evaluate and select equipment suppliers; partner with Purchasing and plant teams to meet cost, schedule, and performance objectives

  • Support equipment installation, commissioning, and startup

Plant Support & Troubleshooting

  • Provide hands-on troubleshooting of PLCs, HMIs, drives, electrical systems, sensors, and instrumentation

  • Support maintenance and engineering teams during machine issues, upgrades, and system improvements

  • Administer and manage Rockwell AssetCentre for the Americas region, including security and control-system asset management

Training & Collaboration

  • Develop and deliver PLC and electrical troubleshooting training for maintenance and plant engineering teams

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including corporate engineering, maintenance, operations, and EHS

  • Promote consistency, standardization, and modernization across all regional facilities

Job Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology

  • 7+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Strong ability to read, develop, and maintain electrical schematics and documentation

  • Proven experience independently troubleshooting complex automation and electrical systems

  • Hands-on experience with Rockwell Automation platforms:

  • Experience with Ultraware, DriveExecutive, and Allen-Bradley PowerFlex drive systems

  • Experience with DC drives, motors, and servos

  • Experience managing Rockwell security and authorization

  • Familiarity with sensors, thermocouples, RTDs, and other instrumentation

  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and standards related to electrical safety, automation, and environmental compliance (e.g., NFPA 70E, NEC, OSHA).

  • Experience with AutoCAD Electrical or other electrical design software is preferred.

  • Ability to travel 20–30% to North American sites

  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and project management skills
