Senior Electrical Designer | Cincinnati, OH

IMEG is hiring a Senior Electrical Designer in Cincinnati, OH. In this role, you will lead design efforts as a project manager or lead designer for moderate to complex projects, supporting the delivery of larger and high complexity projects with limited support from senior staff while providing project direction, engineering solutions, and advice to clients.

You will manage project execution for electrical systems in buildings, including budgets, mentoring, and cross-functional coordination to help teams meet project goals and client expectations. This opportunity is connected to industrial, manufacturing, and MEP work, advancing high-performance, energy-efficient design aligned with MEP2050 and AIA2030.

What You'll Do

  • Coordinate, oversee, and manage projects ranging in size and complexity.
  • Assist Project Executives and Client Executives with design scopes of work, fee calculations for proposal generation, and contract reviews.
  • Create project schedules with milestone targets and deadlines.
  • Serve as the point of contact for teams and clients.
  • Create monthly billings, submit financial information to Accounting in a timely manner, and update billing projections and estimated completion percentage for all projects monthly.
  • Ensure design follows owner standards and requirements, IMEG standards and code requirements, design milestone deliverables are achieved, IMEG and client quality control processes are completed, and construction technical support occurs in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with design staff and coordinate project scheduling during all phases of design and construction.
  • Schedule and lead progress meetings and provide meeting documentation.
  • Conduct construction site visits and provide documentation as needed or requested.
  • Respond to and resolve client / construction concerns, manage change orders, and obtain appropriate approvals.
  • Train, mentor, and motivate staff.
  • Build, maintain, and develop client relationships.

What You'll Bring

Required

Education

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent required

Experience

  • 7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the building design consulting industry OR
  • 11 years of experience minimum required, 12 preferred, in the building design consulting or construction industry

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Demonstrated leadership traits in the Project Management career path
  • Knowledge of Illumination Engineering Society (IES) Standards and reference material resources such as NFPA Link, TechStreet, MadCAD, and Facility Guideline Institution (FGI)
  • Advanced proficiency of Master Specification editing and software such as eSPECS; Proficient with Adobe or Bluebeam Revu
  • Ability to mentor, train, motivate, and lead others
  • Ability to perform final quality control check in their area of expertise
  • Ability to sell work and develop client relationships
  • Strong training and mentoring skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to travel up to 20% with occasional overnight stays

State of Ohio Salary Range: $95,000-$137,000 per year

The range listed above represents the base pay IMEG reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position in the work location identified above at the time of posting. For positions available in multiple locations, the minimums and maximums may vary based on work location.

Individual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, abilities, and licensure and certifications.
