Hybrid:

This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Warren, MI three days (Tues., Wed., Thurs.) a week, at minimum.

The Role:

We are seeking a Senior Electrical Design Automation Engineer to lead the integration, extension, and automation of Siemens Capital and related electrical-engineering toolchains. This role combines electrical architecture expertise with software-development discipline to create plugins, APIs, services, workflows, and AI agents that improve design quality, accelerate release, and maintain traceability from logical connectivity through physical implementation and manufacturing documentation.

A key focus will be converting existing PSDS and electrical-engineering processes into intelligent AI-agent workflows that reduce manual effort, scale engineering expertise, and transform design, problem resolution, validation, and release activities.

The successful candidate will work across electrical engineering, software engineering, manufacturing, PLM, IT, suppliers, and engineering-tool vendors. They will own solutions from requirements and architecture through implementation, validation, deployment, adoption, and support.

What You'll Do:

Capital integration and toolchain ownership

  • Architect integrations across Siemens Capital Logic, Capital Harness, Capital Topology, Capital Integrator, Capital Platform Designer, and adjacent systems

  • Define data models, interfaces, mappings, and transformation rules across logical, physical, 3D, PLM, requirements, and manufacturing representations

  • Evaluate Capital capabilities, identify gaps, and recommend configuration, customization, plugin, or service-based solutions

  • Establish reusable integration patterns, coding standards, versioning practices, and deployment methods

  • Partner with vendors and internal platform teams to resolve issues and influence product roadmaps

Plugin, API, and automation development

  • Design, develop, test, document, and support plugins, APIs, connectors, scripts, and services for electrical design workflows

  • Automate model creation, connectivity checks, design-rule validation, drawing generation, bill-of-material extraction, reporting, and release preparation

  • Build reliable import, export, comparison, and validation pipelines to identify missing data, invalid connectivity, inconsistencies, and release defects

  • Apply software-engineering practices including source control, code review, automated testing, logging, error handling, and configuration management

  • Support CI/CD where appropriate for engineering applications and automation services

AI tools for PSDS within VSEE

  • Develop, deploy, and maintain AI agents and AI-enabled tools for the Power and Signal Distribution Systems (PSDS) organization within VSEE

  • Convert existing PSDS engineering, design-release, quality, and knowledge-management processes into secure, usable, and maintainable AI workflows

  • Integrate AI tools with engineering data and systems while preserving data quality, access controls, traceability, and engineering accountability

Electrical engineering and system integration

  • Apply knowledge of electrical architecture, wiring systems, power and signal distribution, grounding, shielding, connectors, terminals, splices, and communication networks

  • Maintain traceability from requirements and logical connectivity through physical routing, drawings, bills of material, manufacturing outputs, verification, and change management

  • Participate in design reviews, root-cause analysis, tool validation, process definition, and release-readiness assessments

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Computer, Software, Systems, Mechanical, Automotive, or related engineering field, or equivalent experience

  • 5+ years of experience in electrical design, harness engineering, engineering software, design automation, or systems integration

  • Experience developing software, scripts, plugins, APIs, or automated engineering workflows

  • Experience with Siemens Capital or a comparable ECAD, MCAD, harness, PLM, or engineering-design platform

  • Proficiency in Python, C#, C++, Java, JavaScript, VBA, or a comparable language

  • Experience with JSON, XML, SQL, REST APIs, file-based interfaces, data mapping, or message-based communication

  • Ability to understand electrical connectivity, engineering models, design constraints, and downstream manufacturing requirements

  • Ability to lead technical work, communicate across functions, and deliver maintainable solutions

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Master's degree in Electrical, Computer, Software, Systems, Mechanical, Automotive, or related engineering field, or equivalent experience

  • 8+ years of experience in electrical design, harness engineering, engineering software, design automation, or systems integration

  • Direct experience with Capital Logic, Capital Harness, Capital Topology, Capital Integrator, or Capital Platform Designer

  • Experience integrating Capital with CATIA, NX, Creo, Zuken E3, Altium, PLM, requirements, manufacturing, or enterprise data systems

  • Experience with design-rule checking, harness topology, 2D drawing automation, 3D routing, bill-of-material generation, or configuration management

  • Experience developing, integrating, validating, or supporting AI/ML tools for engineering, manufacturing, quality, or enterprise workflows

  • Experience applying AI to PSDS, VSEE, wiring, electrical architecture, problem resolution, engineering knowledge, or design-release processes

  • Experience with Git, CI/CD, automated testing, containerization, Linux, cloud services, or DevOps practices

  • Knowledge of vehicle electrical architecture, low-voltage or high-voltage systems, CAN, LIN, Ethernet, diagnostics, EMI/EMC, or signal integrity

  • Experience with MBSE, requirements traceability, digital-thread concepts, or systems-engineering workflows

  • Experience working with engineering-tool vendors, suppliers, manufacturing teams, or global development organizations
