Full Job Description
Senior Environmental Health & Safety Specialist

Role Overview
  • Administer all safety and environmental programs for Mitsubishi Power Americas Plant Services under the direction of the EHS Manager or Senior Manager.
  • Promote a safe and healthy work environment for employees and contractors.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring, and guidance for EHS coordinators and specialists.

Key Responsibilities
  • Enforce safety and environmental policies and procedures in compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and deliver EHS training programs for supervisors, managers, employees, and subcontractors.
  • Lead cross-functional safety and environmental audits and support continuous improvement through 6S initiatives.
  • Oversee environmental programs and waste disposal activities to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Lead and support safety committees, audits, investigations, corrective actions, and injury reduction initiatives.
  • Conduct facility inspections and implement preventive and corrective measures to reduce risk.
  • Manage incident investigations, workers' compensation activities, recordkeeping, and regulatory reporting.
  • Track EHS metrics, analyze trends, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective action plans.
  • Verify subcontractor EHS training and compliance with Mitsubishi Power standards.
  • Represent the EHS function at meetings, conferences, and organizational events.
  • Support leadership reporting requirements and assume EHS leadership duties during manager absences.
  • Travel up to 10% as required and perform other assigned duties.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and at least six years of relevant EHS experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Professional accreditations from OSHA, Safety Councils, BCEA, EPA, or similar organizations preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of occupational safety, environmental compliance, incident investigation, and risk management principles.
  • Ability to interpret regulations, technical procedures, and business documentation and to prepare reports and presentations.
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency with database, risk management, project management, spreadsheet, and word processing software.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees, management, customers, and regulatory agencies.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to work in industrial environments and use required personal protective equipment.
