What you will enjoy doing*- In this role your primary responsibility will be to lead safety, health, and environmental activities supporting the startup, operation, and ongoing expansion of a new specialty ceramic powder manufacturing facility
- You will have the opportunity to serve as the primary safety representative for major capital projects, providing leadership for contractor safety management, project safety planning, construction safety oversight, and field safety observations
- You will develop, implement, and maintain site EHS programs including Hazard Communication, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Confined Space Entry, Permit-to-Work, Hot Work, Contractor Safety, Powered Industrial Trucks, Fall Protection, Respiratory Protection, and Emergency Response programs
- You have experience managing contractor onboarding and qualification processes, including safety orientations, review of contractor safety plans, job safety analyses (JSAs), permits, training records, and compliance documentation
- You will also support facility permitting activities by working closely with engineering, operations, environmental consultants, and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety requirements
- Further you will conduct workplace risk assessments, industrial hygiene studies, noise surveys, air monitoring, dust exposure assessments, ergonomic evaluations, and other EHS evaluations to identify and mitigate workplace hazards
- Additionally, you will lead chemical management initiatives including SDS administration, chemical inventory management, hazard assessments, risk evaluations, storage reviews, employee training, and regulatory compliance activities
- Coordinate incident investigations, root cause analyses, corrective action implementation, and safety learning communications while driving a proactive safety culture throughout the facility
- You have experience partnering with operations, engineering, maintenance, quality, and leadership teams to identify opportunities for continuous improvement in safety performance, regulatory compliance, and risk reduction
- You will develop and maintain emergency response plans, emergency action procedures, spill response programs, evacuation procedures, contractor emergency coordination plans, and site preparedness exercises
What makes you great - Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Engineering, Safety Management, or a related technical discipline
- 7+ years of progressive EHS experience within manufacturing, construction, chemical processing, powder handling, industrial operations, or similar environments
- Demonstrated experience supporting large capital projects and managing construction safety, contractor safety programs, and field safety activities during facility expansions or major installations
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations, industrial safety requirements, contractor management practices, permit-to-work systems, confined space regulations, lockout/tagout requirements, and hazard communication standards
- Experience developing and implementing site EHS programs, policies, procedures, training programs, audits, and compliance systems
- Experience conducting industrial hygiene studies, including occupational exposure assessments, noise monitoring, respiratory hazard evaluations, and particulate or dust monitoring programs
- Familiarity with environmental permitting requirements, regulatory inspections, hazardous waste management, stormwater compliance, air permitting concepts, and environmental management systems
- Experience managing chemical inventories, SDS programs, chemical risk assessments, process hazard reviews, and employee training related to hazardous materials
- Professional certifications such as CSP, ASP, CIH, CHMM, or equivalent certifications are preferred
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence contractors, operations personnel, engineers, and leadership teams while building a world-class safety culture
- Required to work on-site in a manufacturing environment. This is not a remote or hybrid opportunity
