Full Job Description
DESCRIPTION

Forbes Advisor is hiring a Senior Editor, Manager to edit and deliver high-performing paid social and native advertising creative and help build a small team of exceptional editors. This is a hands-on editing role first. You're an excellent editor with a sharp eye for story, pacing, performance, and what makes a cut work. You'll personally edit some of our highest-priority creative while helping us hire and develop a small team of editors around you.

You should be equally comfortable with cutting simple, social-native UGC and direct-response creative as you are more elevated in documentary, journalistic, and graphics-driven work. You understand that great performance creative can look very different depending on the concept and know when something should feel raw and native versus polished and highly produced.

Initially, this role will be heavily focused on editing, with additional responsibility for helping establish workflows, systems, and hiring. As the team grows, you'll take on more leadership: setting the editing bar, reviewing work, coaching editors, and helping the team produce excellent creative faster.

You'll partner closely with the Creative Director, Creative Strategists, Production, Media Buying, and our post-production coordinator. You'll help ensure editors have the footage, organization, systems, and feedback they need to move quickly.

We are a human-led shop that uses AI to work faster without lowering the bar. You are comfortable with AI editing tools and clear on where they help a cut and where they get in the way. AI fluency is a baseline expectation, not a bonus.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Edit a high volume of paid social and native ads across in-person shoots, remote UGC, and AI-generated video.
  • Cut across a wide range of styles, from simple UGC and social-native performance creative to elevated interview, documentary, journalistic, and graphics-driven work.
  • Bring excellent editorial judgment to every cut, including story, hooks, pacing, structure, music, graphics, captions, and finish.
  • Understand platform-native creative for Meta, TikTok, and other short-form channels, including hooks, retention, pacing, and social-first storytelling.
  • Work quickly without sacrificing craft, producing the volume and creative variations performance marketing demands.
  • Use performance data, testing results, and creative learnings to inform future edits and iterations.
  • Help the Creative Director identify, interview, and hire additional editors as the team grows.
  • As the team expands, review editors' work, give clear and actionable feedback, coach talent, and maintain a consistently high creative bar.
  • Help establish editing systems, templates, tools, and workflows that allow the team to scale efficiently.
  • Partner with the post-production coordinator to ensure footage and assets are properly prepared, organized, and easy for editors to find and use.
  • Help build and maintain a bench of trusted freelance editors for periods of increased volume.
  • Ensure finished ads meet required legal and brand guidelines before launch.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 5+ years of professional video editing experience, with a strong portfolio of relevant work.
  • Significant experience editing paid social, direct-response, DTC, or performance creative, ideally with clear performance results behind the work.
  • Demonstrated experience cutting both social-native UGC/DTC creative and elevated interview, documentary, journalistic, or editorial content.
  • Excellent hands-on editing craft, with strong instincts for story, pacing, structure, music, graphics, and finish.
  • Deep understanding of short-form social creative, including hooks, retention, platform-native pacing, captions, UGC-style editing, and creative testing workflows.
  • Strong editorial judgment: you can quickly identify what is and isn't working in a cut, know how to fix it, and articulate why.
  • Experience leading, mentoring, or giving substantive creative direction to other editors.
  • Experience evaluating editing talent and a strong point of view on what makes an editor great.
  • Comfort working at high volume and pace without dropping the quality bar.
  • Working knowledge of post-production workflows, including ingest, color, media organization, and asset-management systems.
  • Comfort with AI-assisted creative and editing workflows, including working with or finishing AI-generated video assets.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate closely with Creative, Production, Post-Production, and Media Buying.
  • A self-starter who is comfortable working in a fast-moving, evolving environment.

STRONG PLUSES

  • Paid social or direct-response work with clear performance results and meaningful spend behind it.
  • Journalism, news, documentary, or editorial experience in addition to performance marketing.
  • Experience hiring and managing a small team of editors.
  • Motion graphics or design skills in After Effects or similar tools.
  • Experience managing freelance or contract editors.
  • Experience generating, editing, or finishing AI-generated video to a polished, real-ad standard.
  • Familiarity with current AI creative tools and asset-management systems.
  • Comfort reading performance dashboards and using creative performance data to make editing decisions.

TO APPLY

  • A portfolio or reel showcasing relevant editing work.
  • Examples of paid social / Meta / TikTok creative you personally edited.
  • Examples of interview, documentary, journalistic, or editorial work you personally edited.
  • Where available, performance metrics or spend associated with your paid social work.
  • A brief description of your experience leading, mentoring, or hiring editors.
