Job Description

The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, security, optimization, and operational support of enterprise network infrastructure across a multi-site healthcare environment. This role serves as a senior technical resource for routing, switching, wireless, firewall, load balancing, datacenter networking, cloud connectivity, and security architecture supporting clinical and business operations.

The ideal candidate possesses deep expertise in enterprise networking, healthcare security and compliance requirements, and high-availability infrastructure design. This individual will work closely with infrastructure, cybersecurity, cloud, server, clinical application, and leadership teams to ensure resilient, secure, and scalable network services supporting patient care and mission-critical healthcare operations.

This role requires strong troubleshooting skills, operational discipline, documentation capabilities, and the ability to lead infrastructure modernization initiatives across datacenter, campus, cloud, and remote connectivity environments.

Key Responsibilities

Enterprise Network Engineering
  • Design, implement, and support enterprise LAN, WAN, WLAN, and datacenter network infrastructure.
  • Engineer and maintain highly available network architectures supporting hospitals, clinics, administrative offices, and remote facilities.
  • Configure and support:
    • Cisco Nexus datacenter switching platforms
    • Cisco Catalyst campus switching infrastructure
    • Cisco wireless infrastructure and controllers
    • Fortinet security and edge networking solutions
  • Manage enterprise routing and switching technologies including:
    • BGP
    • OSPF
    • VXLAN/EVPN

Security & Firewall Administration

  • Implement and maintain:

Datacenter & Cloud Connectivity
  • Engineer resilient connectivity between multiple datacenters and Azure cloud environments.
  • Support hybrid-cloud networking, including:
    • Azure networking
    • ExpressRoute
    • VPN gateways
    • VNet peering
    • Private connectivity solutions
  • Maintain datacenter technologies, including:
    • Cisco Nexus vPC
    • VXLAN/EVPN fabrics
    • Spine-leaf architectures
    • High availability and disaster recovery connectivity
  • Support VMware, Horizon/VDI, Citrix, and cloud-hosted healthcare applications.


Load Balancing & Application Delivery
  • Configure and maintain application delivery infrastructure, including:
    • FortiADC
    • Global Load Balancing
    • SSL offloading
    • Health monitoring
    • Traffic steering
  • Support critical healthcare applications and Epic connectivity requirements.
  • Assist with performance optimization and application availability initiatives.

Monitoring, Automation & Operational Excellence
  • Monitor network health, capacity, and availability using enterprise monitoring platforms.
  • Support infrastructure automation and configuration management initiatives.
  • Participate in:
    • Change management
    • Root cause analysis
    • Maintenance planning

  • Develop and maintain:

Collaboration & Leadership
