Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Network Engineer for the Pacific Region to support the Department of Defense medical mission by ensuring the reliability, security, performance, and operational effectiveness of highly complex network infrastructure a DOD agency. This position is designated as Key Personnel and serves as a technical lead for LAN, WLAN, and WAN engineering, network operations, routing, security, troubleshooting, and standards implementation.

Responsibilities
  • Identify and resolve complex network issues, provide advanced installation and configuration support, manage communications interconnection and routing
  • Serve as the regional point of contact for network issues, configuration management, addressing, multiprotocol routing, and network management
  • Advisor to the Government staff, agencies, and contractor personnel on network design, implementation, deployment, and management to ensure the network environment fully supports the Military Health System mission
  • Evaluate network performance, provide technical recommendations for operational improvements and upgrades
  • Support the development of procedures and standards, and lead or participate in special projects as required

 

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a technical discipline, or a related field. In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, successful completion of a certified technical or vocational school and ten years of directly related experience gained through progressively higher levels of complexity may be substituted.At least five years of directly related experience.
  • Comply with Department of Defense Directive 8570.01 for Information Assurance Training, Certification, and Workforce Management and must hold an Information Assurance Manager Level III certification, or equivalent, in accordance with current DoD requirements. The candidate must also possess current CCNP and CISSP certifications
  • SECRET security clearance required.
  • Demonstrate mastery of standard networking protocols and technologies, including TCP IP, XDM, HTTP, HTTPS, SMTP, SNMP, DNS, DHCP, RSTP, VRRP, BIND, EIGRP, BGP, OSPF, PPP, HDLC, V35, and RS 449.
  • Understand communications and Internet standards is required, along with direct experience in synchronous and asynchronous communications and network media used in DoD and DHA environments.
  • Have advanced experience working in routed, switched, and shared LAN environments and must be proficient in environments that use current supported versions of Microsoft operating systems, Windows Active Directory, UNIX, and OpenVMS. Experience supporting routers, switches, terminal servers, and both local and long haul WAN connectivity is required.
  • Direct experience with Optical Time Domain Reflectometers, cable testers, network sniffers, and EIA TIA cable standards and specifications. Expertise in Windows networks, Cisco Systems, and Orion SolarWinds is required, along with the ability to configure and support firewalls, VPN devices, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Experience with DoD Health Care Information Systems is required.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues across all layers of the OSI model using diagnostics and network administration tools such as Orion SolarWinds, ARMIS, and Ansible. A strong understanding of Management Information Blocks and MRTG is also required to support network measurement, planning, performance optimization, and downtime reduction.
  • Communicate effectively with a broad audience, including Government officials, medical professionals, and highly specialized technical personnel. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential, along with the ability to provide technical recommendations, document changes, contribute to standards development, and support best practices for enterprise network operations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Zero Trust Architectures and Methodologies
  • Experience developing technical policies, procedures, and standards for enterprise network environments.
  • Experience leading regional or enterprise network modernization initiatives.
  • Experience with automation and orchestration tools in complex network environments.
  • Experience collaborating across Government, contractor, and operational support teams in mission critical environments.
  • Strong ability to provide technical recommendations for network tuning, enhancement, and upgrade planning.
  • Experience supporting enterprise network standardization and compliance initiatives.
Pay Transparency StatementAMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is USD $96,800.00/Yr. - USD $161,500.00/Yr. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
