Job Summary: Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, the Domestic Senior Buyer is responsible for all inventory management on assigned suppliers and styles from the creation of purchase orders to invoicing. The position manages supplier relationships and performance to assure continuity of supply, continued growth, and maximum profitability. The Senior Domestic Buyer will identify and support department initiatives and projects to drive continuous improvement. The Senior Domestic Buyer will help establish new processes and initiatives as well as train and support other level buyers.
Essential Responsibilities- Create and manage purchase orders for assigned suppliers from creation to invoice. Inventory management on assigned styles based on purchasing department goals.
- Independently complete all key buying responsibilities for assigned vendors.
Work with the manager and support in executing corporate and department strategies. - Collaborate with Purchasing Manager to identify, document, and implement departmental process improvements.
- Address and execute on training opportunities and process gaps in a timely manner.
- Project manage system improvements including writing enhancements, communicating, and managing system changes with supporting departments.
- Act as the first point of escalation for supporting outside department inquiries.
- Lead the analysis and review of key purchasing and inventory performance reports, including inventory dashboards, excess inventory tracking, backorder management, open purchase order performance, and supplier lead time metrics.
- Drive corrective actions and continuous improvement efforts based on identified trends and opportunities.
- Oversee domestic return processes, conduct regular overstock inventory reviews, and analyze related metrics to identify trends, reduce excess inventory, and improve overall inventory performance and profitability.
- Ensure all policies are accurately logged and followed, including training domestic buyers to analyze reports and complete returns per vendor policy.
- Support annual process around supplier distribution programs, negotiating new programs across team and annual review for trends for year-end corrections.
- Support new hire onboarding and ongoing training needs.

Requirements- A Bachelor's degree is strongly preferred in supply chain management, business, or related field.
- 5+ years purchasing/supply chain experience in a distribution environment.
- Proven experience effectively managing supplier relationships, reducing costs, and maintaining optimal inventory levels.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- AS400 or similar systems experience. Strong Excel skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to solve problems and multi-task in fast paced dynamic environment
