Responsibilities

About the Role

Fivetran is building data pipelines to power the modern data stack for thousands of companies.

We're looking for a Senior Director of Tax, Treasury & Compliance reporting to the CAO. As the senior leader of the function, you will play a pivotal role in leading all aspects of the company's tax & treasury function, ensuring compliance, optimizing tax positions, and driving strategic tax planning across the entities worldwide. You will be instrumental in preparing the company for its next stage of growth and maturity, overseeing a range of tax and treasury related activities, including federal, state, and international tax filings, tax provisions, annual audits, sales tax reporting, cash planning for international locations, and strategic tax planning.

This is a full-time position based out of our Oakland, CA office. Our hybrid work model offers a blend of remote flexibility and in-person collaboration, including two days in the office each week to connect and build as a team.

What You'll Do
  • Company Maturity: Lead and coordinate all tax-related activities required for Fivetran's next stage of growth and maturity, ensuring compliance with SEC regulations and best practices.
  • Tax Compliance: Oversee the timely and accurate filing of federal, state, and international income tax returns, including quarterly estimates and extensions.
  • Tax Provision: Prepare the quarterly and annual income tax provision in accordance with ASC 740, ensuring compliance with GAAP and SOX requirements.
  • Tax Audits: Manage tax audits conducted by federal, state, and international tax authorities.
  • Sales Tax: Oversee sales tax compliance, including registration, reporting, and remittance.
  • Strategic Tax & Treasury Planning: Identify and implement tax strategies to optimize the company's business operations internationally.
  • SOX Compliance: Implement and maintain compliance of SOX controls related to the tax function.
  • International Tax: Handle intercompany transactions and treasury operations between different countries.
  • Leadership: Act as a critical leader within the Finance organization.
  • Technology Adoption: Embrace and leverage technology to streamline tax processes and improve efficiency.

Skills We're Looking For
  • Experience: 15+ years of relevant experience in public accounting, private and public companies, with progressive complexity in scope and responsibilities.
  • Education: CPA or CA designation required.
  • Technical Skills: Strong understanding of tax laws and regulations, including ASC 740, SOX, and international tax principles.
  • IPO Readiness: Experience in IPO readiness processes and involvement in IPO-related activities is preferred.
  • International Tax: Experience working with international accounting teams and handling intercompany transactions.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead material initiatives, inspire others, and drive results.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to explain complex topics clearly.
  • Proactive and Detail-Oriented: Ability to anticipate needs, identify opportunities, and work with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Technology Savvy: Enthusiasm for leveraging technology to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
