Overview

The Senior Director of Process Improvement is a strategic executive leader responsible for defining, leading, and sustaining enterprise-wide process transformation initiatives across the revenue cycle continuum. This role provides vision, leadership, and governance to improve operational efficiency, financial performance, quality outcomes, and patient experience through the application of Lean methodologies, automation technologies, analytics, and continuous improvement principles. The Senior Director partners closely with executive leadership, operational stakeholders, information technology teams, clinical leadership, and revenue cycle departments to identify and eliminate systemic barriers impacting revenue integrity, reimbursement, operational effectiveness, and organizational performance. This position drives transformational change across Patient Access, Health Information Management, Coding, Billing, Claims Resolution, Denials Management, Appeals, Reporting, and Revenue Integrity functions. The Senior Director establishes enterprise performance improvement strategies, develops long-range transformation roadmaps, oversees a portfolio of high-impact initiatives, and ensures organizational adoption of standardized best practices. This leader is accountable for achieving measurable financial, operational, and quality outcomes while fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.

Required qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Medicine or related fields
  • Ten (10) years of progressive healthcare leadership experience within revenue cycle of which minimum five (5) years of senior leadership experience in an integrated health system.
  • Industry certifications in hospital revenue cycle operations.
  • Proven track record of delivering measurable financial improvements, operational efficiencies, and organizational change.
  • Extensive knowledge of healthcare revenue cycle operations including pre- and post-care.
  • Strong project portfolio management experience managing multiple concurrent strategic initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience leading large-scale enterprise process improvement and transformational initiatives.

    Preferred qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Public Health or Health Administration.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build effective partnering relationships with revenue cycle staff and hospital management staff.
  • Assertive personality traits to facilitate ongoing stakeholder communications.

The compensation estimate noted above is specific to California and has not been adjusted for any other geographic location. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
