Job Summary

The Senior Director of Pricing Strategy serves as a key strategic partner to the Vice President of Pricing and is responsible for shaping and advancing the company's pricing strategy across major commercial initiatives.This role leads high-impact work around project pricing, competitive positioning, price realization, segmentation, portfolio pricing, and emerging market trends. The Senior Director brings together internal performance data, external market intelligence, and cross-functional perspectives to identify opportunities and translate them into clear pricing strategies and actions. This role is not responsible for day-to-day quotation execution. Instead, it provides strategic leadership across Pricing and partners closely with Sales, Product Management, Finance, Technology, and Pricing Operations to ensure pricing strategies support profitable growth and the broader commercial objectives of the business.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
• Strategic Partner to VP Pricing: Serve as a primary thought partner to the VP of Pricing on pricing strategy, business performance, emerging risks, and major commercial decisions.
• Enterprise Pricing Strategy: Develop and evolve pricing frameworks across products, projects, customers, channels, and markets while balancing revenue, margin, competitiveness, and customer dynamics.
• Project Pricing Leadership: Lead strategic analysis of project pricing performance, including discounting, overage, target prices, split points, win rates, competitive behavior, and profitability.
• Market & Competitive Strategy: Build a more systematic approach to competitive intelligence, market trends, customer behavior, and pricing benchmarks and translate those insights into business actions.
• Price Realization Leadership: Identify structural drivers of price realization and lead cross-functional initiatives with Sales and Product Management to improve performance.
• Portfolio & Lifecycle Pricing: Partner with Product leadership to define pricing strategies throughout the product lifecycle, including new products, mature portfolios, price increases, and end-of-life actions.
• Strategic Pricing Programs: Evaluate and redesign major pricing programs and structures, including special pricing, agent-specific programs, standing quotes, target prices, incentives, and other pricing mechanisms.
• Cross-Functional Leadership: Lead complex pricing initiatives across Sales, Product, Finance, Technology, and Operations, driving alignment even where there is no direct reporting relationship.
• Executive Insights: Translate complex pricing and market information into clear recommendations for senior leadership and support executive-level decision making.
• Pricing Capability Development: Help strengthen the broader Pricing organization by establishing frameworks, methodologies, analytics, and best practices that improve strategic decision making.
• Mentorship: Coach and develop pricing talent and provide strategic guidance to Directors, Managers, and analysts across the function.

Skills and Minimum Experience Required
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Engineering, Analytics, or related discipline; MBA strongly preferred
• 12+ years of experience in pricing, commercial strategy, management consulting, finance, or related functions
• Significant experience leading strategic pricing initiatives in a complex B2B environment
• Manufacturing, distribution, or project-based pricing experience strongly preferred
• Demonstrated experience presenting recommendations to senior executives and influencing cross-functional decisions
• Experience building, leading, and managing teams, driving performance, talent development, and continuous improvement initiatives

Travel Requirements
  • 1-20%

The range for this position is $180,000 to $230,000 USD. Placement within this range may vary, depending on the applicant's experience and geographic location.
