Department: Marketing

Reports to: CMO

Employment Type: Full-time/salaried

Job Summary

ProShop did one of the hardest things a software company can do right now: we rebuilt our product on AI instead of bolting it on, and launched Chip - an AI that learns how a shop runs and makes that knowledge available to everyone on the floor. That gave us a portfolio that spans execution, intelligence, and compliance, and a category question this market hasn't settled yet. We're hiring a Senior Director of Product Marketing to help provide the answer.

Reporting to the CMO as a core member of the marketing leadership team, you'll own product marketing end to end. Launches, naming, packaging, positioning, competitive intelligence, win-loss, and the customer research that tells us what the market believes. In practice, you set the words the entire company uses: what we call things, what we claim they do, and most importantly why a shop owner should care. Marketing, Sales, Product, and Customer Success all will use what you produce.

This is a builder role. We're a small team trying to do a lot. You will be the only, and senior-most, product marketer in the company and be expected to shape the function and the operating rhythm. The right person pairs sharp strategic instincts with unusually strong execution and a data-driven mindset. Our buyers are shop owners and operations leaders who have been sold to their entire careers and can spot vendor language instantly, so clarity and authenticity will help us win every time. Experience in, or marketing to, machine shops, manufacturers, or another technical, regulated industry is a significant advantage.

Essential Duties:

  • Go-to-Market Strategy & Launch:
    • Set the launch strategy and tiering model for everything we ship, from a full category launch down to a release note, and orchestrate Product, Sales, Marketing, and CS to execute it.
  • Naming & Packaging:
    • Own the product vocabulary and how new capabilities are named, bundled, and packaged, partnering with other needed departments on pricing, including how we introduce change to an existing install base without inserting confusion.
  • Market & Competitive Intelligence:
    • Harness our standing intelligence practice that's instrumented and largely automated and continue to cover competitor monitoring, win/loss analysis, and battlecards the sales team uses. Feed what you learn back into marketing and product strategies.
  • Win-Loss & Customer Research:
    • Partner with Product on our first-party research program and early-access customer cohorts as instruments for learning about the market. Turn what customers tell us into positioning, published evidence, and real influence on what gets built.
  • Positioning & Messaging:
    • Own portfolio-level positioning, value identification, and messaging across ProShop and Chip (our AI product), and keep it consistent from the website to the demo to the renewal conversation.
  • Enablement Content & Narrative:
    • Own the strategic narrative and the substance go-to-market teams run on: demo framing that anchors in value, objection handling, and proof points. You own what's true and why it matters, and partner with GTM Enablement owns delivery and certification.
  • AI as Operating Leverage:
    • Build AI into how this function operates across research, drafting, competitive monitoring, call analysis, reporting, and more so that a team of one produces at scale.
  • Measurement & Impact:
    • Help define the metrics that tie product marketing to pipeline and revenue across launch performance, win rate against competitors, adoption of the message in the field, etc., and report performance and insight.

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years in B2B SaaS product marketing, including at least 3 leading the function or a major portfolio
  • A track record of leading successful product marketing in a high-growth tech company
  • A player-coach history - you have shipped the launch, the deck, and the positioning
  • Proven experience owning and scaling a product marketing function where you've built the practice
  • Strong command of B2B buyer journeys, personas, and value-based messaging, with the ability to translate technical products into business outcomes
  • Direct experience marketing an AI or data-driven product to a non-technical buyer, including the work of making it credible
  • An established practice of using AI in your own daily output for research, drafting, analysis, competitive monitoring, and more
  • Comfort driving pricing and packaging decisions
  • Executive presence and exceptional writing, presentation, and storytelling skills
  • Experience working with or marketing to machine shops, manufacturers, or industrial organizations is highly desirable; familiarity with compliance-driven buying (CMMC, ITAR, AS9100) is a plus
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent experience

You'll Thrive at ProShop if you:

  • Take end-to-end ownership of the product marketing function and drive it forward independently
  • Love the launch: turning a release into a moment the market notices
  • Write well and often, and would rather write the first draft yourself than brief someone else to write it
  • Have a point of view about what good product marketing looks like
  • Are curious about how things get made, and would happily spend a day or days on a machine shop's floor
  • Blend analytical rigor with creative storytelling in equal measure
  • Do your best work in a fast-paced, growth-stage environment and have a high tolerance for ambiguity

Working Conditions:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must have access to reliable internet that can handle video calls and space to have confidential calls.
