Senior Director of Field Service

Location: Marietta, OH
Job Type: Direct Hire
Pay: Starting at $180,000 annually (higher compensation may be available based on experience)
Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Director of Field Service to lead and grow a field service organization supporting electrical infrastructure and mission-critical environments.

This leadership role will focus on building scalable service systems, developing preventative maintenance programs, managing service operations, and leading high-performing technical teams. The ideal candidate will be both a strategic leader and a hands-on problem solver with extensive experience in power distribution equipment and data center environments.

Responsibilities

  • Build and scale a high-performing field service organization
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs across multiple product lines
  • Establish and manage service-level agreements (SLAs), key performance indicators (KPIs), and operational performance metrics
  • Manage the department's profit and loss (P&L), including budgeting, forecasting, revenue, and profitability
  • Lead commissioning, start-up, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, warranty, and field repair activities
  • Build documentation libraries, certification programs, and standardized operating procedures
  • Recruit, develop, and retain technical field personnel
  • Manage customer escalations and maintain executive-level customer relationships
  • Build and manage relationships with third-party service partners
  • Provide hands-on technical support and troubleshooting when needed
  • Collaborate with leadership, engineering, and operations teams to support business growth


Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in field service, electrical infrastructure, power distribution, mission-critical facilities, or a related industry
  • Experience building or significantly scaling a field service organization
  • Previous responsibility for a service P&L, including budgeting, forecasting, revenue, gross margin, staffing, and profitability
  • Experience developing and managing preventative maintenance programs and service agreements
  • Experience establishing and managing SLAs, KPIs, field service metrics, and operational performance reviews
  • Significant experience with low- and medium-voltage power distribution equipment, including:
    • Switchgear
    • Switchboards
    • Power Distribution Units (PDUs)
    • Transformers
    • Static Transfer Switches (STS)
  • Strong experience supporting data centers and mission-critical facilities
  • Experience managing internal field service teams and third-party service partner networks
  • Proven ability to recruit, organize, lead, and develop technical field personnel
  • Strong financial and commercial business acumen
  • Experience managing customer escalations and executive-level customer relationships
  • Strong understanding of commissioning, start-up, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, warranty, and field repair processes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-growing environment
  • Willingness to travel regularly


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Business, Operations, or a related field (or equivalent industry experience)
  • Experience leading a national or multi-regional field service organization
  • Experience developing recurring service agreements or aftermarket service businesses
  • Experience with mission-critical commissioning environments
  • Experience implementing field service management systems, CRM platforms, service ticketing systems, installed-base tracking, and service analytics


Travel Requirements

  • Approximately 25% travel
  • Up to 50% travel, depending on the candidate's location
