Overview

The Senior Director of Development provides strategic leadership for Arrow's comprehensive fundraising program, including major gifts, planned/legacy giving, annual giving, special events, in-kind donations, corporate partnerships, and grants. Working collaboratively with the Director of Marketing & Communications, the Senior Director ensures alignment between fundraising initiatives and the organization's integrated marketing and communications strategy. In partnership with the Chief Development Officer and organizational leadership, the Senior Director of Development develops and executes strategies to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors and funding partners. This role is responsible for securing major, planned, and annual fund gifts ranging from five to seven figures, strengthening philanthropic support, and advancing the mission, programs, and long-term sustainability of Arrow Child & Family Ministries.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Chief Development Officer (CDO) to develop and execute a comprehensive annual fundraising and development strategy.
  • Partner with the Grant Writer to identify, cultivate, and secure new grant opportunities and foundation funding to increase annual philanthropic support.
  • Build, strengthen, and maintain meaningful relationships with existing donors to foster ongoing engagement and investment in Arrow's mission.
  • Cultivate, solicit, and steward major gifts, planned gifts, and annual fund contributions ranging from five to seven figures in coordination with the CDO.
  • Oversee and ensure accurate donor record management, gift tracking, and acknowledgment processes utilizing DonorPerfect to support data integrity, compliance, and reporting requirements.
  • Lead the development and preparation of compelling grant proposals, letters of intent, budgets, reports, and other fundraising materials that effectively communicate the organization's mission, impact, and programmatic outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the CDO, organizational leadership, and Development Manager to identify and develop funding opportunities through individuals, corporations, faith-based organizations, service clubs, schools, and foundations within the community.
  • Partner with the Grant Writer to research and pursue regional and national funding opportunities from private foundations and corporate donors.
  • Coordinate the preparation and submission of funding proposals supporting programmatic, operational, capital, and annual fund initiatives for Arrow Child & Family Ministries.
  • Prepare and present monthly fundraising reports to the CDO for executive leadership and Board of Directors review.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and accountability to development staff in achieving annual fundraising goals across Texas and Maryland development teams.
  • Manage the grants pipeline and funding calendar to ensure the timely submission of letters of inquiry, grant proposals, reports, and other donor deliverables.
  • Prepare personalized acknowledgment letters and stewardship communications for grant awards,
    major gifts, and in-kind contributions.
  • Organize, maintain, and enhance proposal resources and development materials to support fundraising efforts and donor engagement activities across the organization.
  • Support special projects, fundraising events, and other development initiatives as assigned.
  • Ensure compliance with all contractual obligations, state and federal regulations, organizational
    policies, and applicable accreditation and regulatory standards.
  • Perform all duties within contract, state and federal regulations, company policy, and regulatory
    agency standards.
  • May be required to drive vehicles, be insurable with our auto insurance provider, and complete company vehicle training.
  • Occasional travel may be required.

Qualifications

Associates or bachelors degree preferred. 5-7 years of major gift fundraising and development leadership
experience required, preferably with demonstrated experience in grants and fundraising. CFRE (Certified
Fund-Raising Executive) preferred.
