Job SummarySpectrum Brands is seeking an experienced, commercially minded legal leader to serve as Senior Director, Litigation & Corporate Counsel. Reporting to senior legal leadership, this role will serve as both a hands-on attorney and a strategic advisor to business and functional leaders across litigation, regulatory, commercial, corporate, and risk-management matters.
The Senior Director will lead and manage litigation and disputes while providing practical, business-focused counsel on regulatory, commercial, and business issues.
This role requires an attorney who can partner effectively with senior leadership, regulatory affairs, R&D, sales, marketing, supply chain, operations, and external counsel to protect the company, support responsible growth, and enable strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring large law firm training and meaningful in-house experience.
Primary Duties & ResponsibilitiesLitigation Management:
- Lead the strategy, management, and resolution of commercial, product liability, intellectual property, class action, and other significant litigation matters, and drive the efficient resolution of disputes.
- Oversee litigation-related investigations, privilege protocols, document preservation, eDiscovery, and records-management practices.
- Select, supervise, and evaluate outside counsel, discovery vendors, TPAs, experts, and consultants; manage budgets, matter plans, reporting, and legal spend.
Commercial Partner and Other:
- Draft, review, negotiate, and advise on a broad range of commercial and corporate agreements, including supply, customer, vendor, services, consulting, licensing, marketing, and strategic partnership agreements.
- Other commercial responsibilities based on needs of the business.
Regulatory Duties:
- Oversee regulatory affairs for the Company's Home & Garden business (primary EPA) including compliance, quality and product safety.
- Experience with EPA regime a significant asset but willing to have the appropriate candidate learn the EPA regime following starting with the Company.
Education and Experience Profile - Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing.
- 6-12 years of progressive legal experience with the experience and expertise identified in this description.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to influence stakeholders across functions, geographies, and levels of seniority.
- Proven ability to manage multiple high-priority matters independently while maintaining attention to detail and business alignment.
