What is the opportunity?

The Senior Director-Head of CNB Wealth Product Development & Technology- Toronto is a senior leadership role within CNB Wealth Technology, reporting directly to the Head of CNB Wealth Technology.

The role is responsible for leading the CNB Wealth Product Development organization, with approximately 30 professionals, and driving the product strategy, roadmap, prioritization, and execution of technology capabilities that support the firm's Wealth Management business.

The successful candidate will serve as a strategic partner to Wealth business leadership, bringing deep Wealth Management industry expertise and a strong understanding of the products, platforms, workflows, operating models, and client experiences that underpin a modern wealth management organization.

In addition to the functional leadership responsibilities, the individual will serve as the Head of Toronto for CNB Wealth Technology, providing local leadership, employee engagement, talent development, and organizational oversight for the Toronto-based CNB Wealth Technology community.

What will you do?

Wealth Product Leadership
  • Lead the Wealth Product Development organization of approximately 30 professionals, establishing a high-performing, product-oriented culture focused on business outcomes and client value.
  • Define and execute the Wealth Product Development strategy in partnership with Wealth business leadership and the Head of Wealth Technology.
  • Own the product development lifecycle from ideation and prioritization through delivery, adoption, and continuous enhancement.
  • Translate Wealth business strategy and client needs into clear product strategies, roadmaps, priorities, and measurable outcomes.
  • Establish and maintain a disciplined product prioritization framework that balances strategic initiatives, business growth opportunities, client experience, regulatory requirements, technology modernization, and operational needs.
  • Ensure product roadmaps are aligned with the broader Wealth Technology strategy and enterprise technology architecture.
  • Partner closely with Engineering, Architecture, Data, Cybersecurity, Operations, and other technology functions to ensure successful delivery of product capabilities.
  • Drive transparency into product investment, priorities, dependencies, delivery progress, and business outcomes.
  • Establish appropriate product management practices, standards, governance, metrics, and operating rhythms across the organization.
  • Continuously assess opportunities to simplify, modernize, and improve the Wealth technology experience for advisors, clients, and employees.

Wealth Management Domain Leadership
  • Serve as a subject-matter leader for Wealth Management technology, bringing a deep understanding of the industry's products, processes, clients, and technology landscape.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of wealth management operating models, including advisor platforms, portfolio management, financial planning, trading, order management, client onboarding, account opening, reporting, performance, billing, custody, and related capabilities.
  • Understand the needs of advisors, relationship managers, clients, investment professionals, and wealth operations teams.
  • Partner with Wealth business leaders to identify opportunities where technology can accelerate growth, improve client experience, increase advisor productivity, and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Bring external Wealth Management industry perspectives and emerging technology trends into the firm's product strategy.
  • Ensure product decisions reflect both immediate business needs and the long-term evolution of the Wealth Management industry.

Business Partnership & Strategic Execution
  • Serve as a trusted technology and product advisor to senior Wealth business leaders.
  • Establish strong relationships with business product owners and executives, creating a collaborative model between business and technology.
  • Facilitate strategic discussions around business capabilities, product priorities, investment decisions, and the future-state Wealth technology ecosystem.
  • Drive alignment across stakeholders and effectively manage competing priorities.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage technology, data, automation, and AI to improve the Wealth business.
  • Communicate product strategy, priorities, progress, risks, and outcomes effectively to executive stakeholders.

People & Organizational Leadership
  • Lead, coach, and develop the Product Development leadership team and broader organization.
  • Establish a culture of accountability, ownership, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Build organizational capabilities and develop a strong pipeline of product leadership talent.
  • Define roles, responsibilities, career paths, and development opportunities within Product Development.
  • Attract, develop, and retain high-caliber product professionals with strong Wealth Management expertise.
  • Establish clear performance expectations and measurable objectives for the organization.

Head of Toronto Responsibilities

As Head of Toronto for Wealth Technology, the individual will provide local leadership and organizational oversight for the Toronto-based Wealth Technology community.

Responsibilities will include:
  • Serve as the senior local representative for Wealth Technology in Toronto.
  • Foster a strong culture of collaboration, engagement, inclusion, and accountability across the Toronto technology community.
  • Partner with functional technology leaders to support talent development, employee engagement, organizational effectiveness, and retention.
  • Provide local leadership on employee communications, town halls, organizational events, and culture-building activities.
  • Help establish Toronto as a strong technology talent center for Wealth Technology.
  • Support recruiting, onboarding, career development, and succession planning for Toronto-based employees.
  • Identify and address local organizational issues and escalate matters appropriately to functional leadership.
  • Ensure strong connectivity between Toronto employees and the broader Wealth Technology organization.
  • Partner with HR and other enterprise functions on location-specific workforce and organizational matters


What do you need to succeed?

Must have
  • Deep Wealth Management expertise - Extensive knowledge of Wealth Management products, business processes, operating models, client journeys, and technology platforms.
  • Product leadership - Proven experience building and leading product organizations and establishing effective product management disciplines.
  • Business orientation - Ability to understand business strategy and translate it into actionable technology product strategies and roadmaps.
  • Executive presence - Ability to operate confidently with senior Wealth executives and technology leadership.
  • Strategic thinking - Ability to connect today's priorities with the longer-term evolution of the Wealth business.

Nice to have
  • 12+ years of experience in Wealth Management, financial technology, product management, technology, or related disciplines.
  • Significant direct experience within the Wealth Management industry is required.
  • Proven experience leading a substantial Wealth Management product organization.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Wealth Management technology platforms and the end-to-end advisor and client experience.
  • Experience partnering with senior business and technology executives.
  • Strong understanding of modern product management practices, agile methodologies, technology delivery, APIs, data, cloud, and emerging technologies.
  • Experience working in a complex financial-services environment with significant regulatory, risk, and operational requirements.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline; advanced degree preferred.
