Senior Director, Global Commercial Transformation

About the Role

The Senior Director, Global Commercial Transformation is responsible for leading the coordination and execution of global commercial transformation programs that advance Takeda's commercial priorities and enable business growth. This role identifies strategic opportunities and internal/external issues that may impact commercial effectiveness, and translates strategic direction into coordinated action across global and regional stakeholders.

The role ensures clear alignment on deliverables, interdependencies, commercial capability requirements, risks, and execution plans. As a senior leader, this position plays a critical role in driving enterprise-wide collaboration, supporting decision-making, and enabling successful delivery of transformation initiatives over the short- to mid-term horizon.

How You Will Contribute
  • Lead the coordination and governance of global commercial transformation programs across multiple workstreams, ensuring delivery against defined objectives, milestones, and outcomes.
  • Partner with global, regional, and functional leaders to establish priorities, clarify accountability, and align on program scope, dependencies, and timelines.
  • Identify and manage key risks, issues, and interdependencies that could impact delivery, escalating appropriately and enabling timely resolution.
  • Define and prioritize commercial capability requirements required to support transformation objectives and future operating model needs.
  • Develop and maintain program roadmaps, governance structures, reporting mechanisms, and leadership updates to ensure transparency and execution discipline.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration across commercial, strategy, operations, digital, and enabling functions to support integrated execution.
  • Synthesize complex information, key decisions, and progress updates into concise, executive-ready communications for senior leadership.
  • Support change management, business readiness, and adoption planning to help ensure transformation initiatives are effectively implemented and sustained.
  • Influence across a matrixed global organization and lead through multiple layers of management without direct authority where required.
  • Contribute to the development of short- to mid-term plans for optimizing commercial organization capabilities and transformation priorities.


Skills and Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience leading global commercial transformation, strategic program management, business planning, or related enterprise initiatives.
  • Strong capability in coordinating complex, cross-functional programs in a global, matrixed organization.
  • Proven ability to drive accountability for deliverables, timelines, dependencies, and decision-making.
  • Experience identifying commercial capability gaps and translating business needs into actionable transformation plans.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, including the ability to partner effectively with senior leaders.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and risk management skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with executive audiences.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience across multiple layers of management and diverse geographies.
  • Strong understanding of commercial operating models, transformation governance, and enterprise change execution.
  • Experience in a global biopharmaceutical or similarly complex, regulated environment preferred.


Leadership Expectations

As a leader of a major country, multiple smaller countries, or a regional/global functional area, your accountability extends to shaping operational strategy, integrating activities within Takeda, and possibly contributing to broader business strategy. You may also be responsible for leadership through at least two levels of subordinates and for influencing outcomes across the enterprise.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • 10 - 15 years of experience in commercial strategy, transformation, operations, or program leadership required; experience in Pharmaceutical industry preferred.
  • Experience working in a global, matrixed organization strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of commercial pharmaceutical business and operations.
  • Previous people leader experience preferred.

U.S. Base Salary Range:
$212,000.00 - $333,190.00

The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.

U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/ or long-term incentives. U.S. based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others. U.S. based employees are also eligible to receive, per calendar year, up to 80 hours of sick time, and new hires are eligible to accrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
