Senior Director of Facility Development - Hybrid Opportunity

This is a hybrid position based at our corporate office in Brentwood, TN, with on-site work required Monday through Wednesday.

Position Overview

The Senior Director of Facility Development plays a critical role in supporting the mission of Surgery Partners, Inc. by leading the design, construction, and real estate development of ambulatory surgery centers and other healthcare facilities across the country. This individual will oversee projects from acquisition through development, ensuring facilities are well-designed, cost-effective, and aligned with Surgery Partners' operational and clinical goals.

Collaborating closely with Clinical, Operations, Legal, and Real Estate teams, the Senior Director will also contribute to facility acquisitions, and the ongoing management of Surgery Partners' growing portfolio of 150+ facilities nationwide.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee external design consultants, contractors, real estate developers, and vendors.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to define project requirements and expectations.
  • Participate in selecting design, construction, furniture, and equipment vendors.
  • Review design documents to ensure compliance with project specifications and operational needs.
  • Monitor construction sites and conduct inspections to verify quality and progress.
  • Develop, track, and report project budgets, commitments, and expenditures across all categories.
  • Analyze contractor pay applications and consultant invoices, coordinate with Finance for payment processes.
  • Create and manage project schedules, coordinating with corporate stakeholders.
  • Support real estate activities, including review of lease documents for design and construction considerations.
  • Maintain accurate project files and archival information.
  • Provide cross-departmental support to achieve organizational goals.
  • Oversee and coordinate the work of external consultant teams.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, construction management, real estate, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in healthcare facility development, design, construction, or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of ambulatory surgery centers, hospitals, and healthcare facilities design and construction requirements.
  • Experience serving as an owner's representative, project manager, architect, engineer, or similar role.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and other industry software.
  • Familiarity with real estate leases, negotiations, and terminology.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering plans and specifications.
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills, including public speaking.
  • Strong financial management skills with experience in budget oversight.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time by air and/or automobile.
  • Physical ability to climb ladders and safely navigate active construction sites.
