Position Overview
This Senior Director, PES Segment Controller leads the global segment accounting and controlling function and provides financial oversight, accounting guidance, and analytical support to the Power Efficiency Solutions (PES) business. This role will manage three individuals directly and directly oversee a US-based team of nine and an offshore team of three. The Segment Controller also manages indirect relationships with plant and division accounting teams based in North America, EMEA, and APAC, as well as relationships with Regal Rexnord corporate finance.
We are looking for someone who can build strong relationships within the organization, build a strong team and engage at all levels in the organization, take advantage of data & analytics to provide business insight and decision support, drive improvements and efficiencies in processes including incorporation of AI tools such as copilot in recurring work, interpret technical accounting on a variety of routine and non-routine matters and provide guidance to others throughout the segment, and maintain compliance with accounting controls and policies. The role requires a “hands on” and results driven person who can provided detailed analysis in a complex organization and communicate complex issues clearly.
The Senior Director, PES Segment Controller will report directly to the PES CFO and will serve as a key liaison and business partner with the Segment CFO, Segment FP&A, Divisional VPs of Finance, Plant Controllers, Corporate Accounting and Compliance, Sales, Procurement, and other teams.
Key Responsibilities
Support Segment CFO in their responsibilities
Management, development, coaching, and support for PES segment accounting team, as well as other accounting and finance professionals within PES
Directly oversee the accounting for North America division operating expenses, intercompany accounting work, and general accounting that is performed centrally for the North America divisions by the PES segment accounting team
Lead the month end close process including understanding reserve calculations, accruals, and other adjustments in order to proactively communicate with FP&A and ensure alignment on expectations for upcoming results
Research and explain variances, including those arising during monthly closing, and during the quarterly segment analytics process
Partner closely with plant controllers, corporate accounting, and other teams outside of the PES segment accounting team to understand entries and explain to FP&A and other stakeholders
Proactively support internal controls and compliance matters to ensure company processes, controls, and accounting policies are understood and followed
Lead and manage the implementation of new accounting practices, new accounting policy, and compliance or law changes
Assume the role of subject matter expert for the segment on all accounting and compliance matters
Act as a key business partner between segment, business units, and corporate accounting team to drive communication around accounting items, explain trends in the business, help minimize surprises during month ends, and improve accuracy of financial reporting
Coordinate and support internal and external auditors with data requests during quarterly and annual audits
Oversee the segment team’s balance sheet review program to proactively identify and communicate risks, and pursue timely remediation of issues
Partner with IT and other functions to streamline current finance processes and create new processes for key business initiatives
Support enhancements to Oracle ERP system and implementation of additional modules of the OneStream financial reporting tool
Occasional travel for team meetings or site visits may be required
Required Skills and Qualifications
The successful candidate will have proven experience in controllership and in developing collaborative relationships across all levels and functions within a global organization. This leader must have the passion, energy, and intellectual curiosity necessary for a fast-paced, growth-driven environment.
Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or related field
Minimum ten years of relevant and progressive finance/accounting experience
Strong communication skills, ability to quickly establish strong working relationships across multiple teams
Ability to leverage analytical skills to effectively organize and translate data into insights for decision making
Proven ability to take initiative, be hands-on, investigate complex processes, and develop and execute innovative solutions to drive accurate results
Able to tolerate ambiguity, adapt to new situations and changes in direction, and devise ways to overcome obstacles to achieve finance and business objectives
Skillset to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritize and direct work to meet deadlines with a sense of urgency
Demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement and efficiency
Commitment to coaching and mentoring staff to enhance the proficiency, competencies, and long-term development of the team
Ability to create a work environment with high standards of performance but where team members feel engaged and supported
Strong working knowledge of ERP systems; experience with Oracle and OneStream is a plus
High level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
Advanced degree in accounting or business administration
CPA
Minimum two years of public accounting firm experience
Three years in manufacturing sector
