Senior Database EngineerYou will make an impact:
As a Senior Database Engineer, you will be a key member of the elluminate product development team. You will ensure that the data layer of our next-generation cloud platform is optimized for performance, scalability, and security. You will be responsible for managing and maintaining our SQL Server databases, supporting data integrations, and working closely with software engineers to develop and maintain robust and efficient data architectures.
Your day to day:- Manage, maintain, and optimize SQL Server databases, ensuring performance, availability, and security
- Manage, maintain, and optimize Databricks databases, ensuring performance, availability, and security
- Manage, maintain, and optimize document databases, ensuring performance, availability, and security
- Collaborate with the Software Engineering team to design and implement database structures and queries that meet the needs of our applications
- Review and analyze query code to identify and resolve performance issues, ensuring efficient database operations
- Monitor and tune database systems for optimal performance and reliability
- Conduct database migrations, upgrades, backups, and recovery processes as needed
- Assist the development team in troubleshooting and optimizing queries, stored procedures, and performance bottlenecks
- Contribute to database design and data modeling to support application features and data integrity
- Ensure database systems comply with security standards, particularly in highly regulated environments like life sciences
- Provide technical support for existing elluminate product releases, diagnosing and resolving database-related issues
- Assist in developing and documenting database management best practices
- Support software developers in integrating C# and Entity Framework solutions with SQL Server databases (nice to have)
- Implement backup and recovery strategies to protect data and ensure business continuity
- Conduct regular database health checks, performance tuning, and maintenance tasks to optimize system performance
- Stay updated with the latest database technologies and trends, recommending improvements to enhance database performance and security
- Document database processes, procedures, and architecture to ensure knowledge transfer and continuity

Education & Experience- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent work experience preferred
- 5+ years of experience in SQL Server database administration, including performance tuning, backups, restores, and replication preferred
Professional Skills - Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, particularly in cross-functional teams
- Experience with cloud databases and data architecture in distributed/ha environments is a plus
- Excellent knowledge of English
Technical Skills - Strong knowledge of database management principles, relational data models, and T-SQL for creating complex queries and stored procedures
- Experience with database design, implementation, and optimization
- Knowledge of C# and Entity Framework is a nice-to-have, providing additional value for collaboration with development teams
- Familiarity with database security best practices, particularly for sensitive data in clinical trials and life sciences
- Proficient in writing and optimizing complex SQL queries and stored procedures
- Ability to identify performance issues and implement effective solutions for SQL Server, Databricks, and document database performance tuning.
- Ability to work with architecture team to chose the best technology for the problem.
