About the Role The Senior Data Steward plays a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and governance of enterprise data across the Operating Unit. This role requires a strong understanding of business processes, data standards, and reporting requirements, combined with proactive ownership of data quality issues and remediation activities.
Acting as a key liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams, the Senior Data Steward ensures data requirements are clearly defined, understood, and consistently applied. The role supports reliable decision-making, regulatory compliance, and the successful delivery of Enterprise Data Management (EDM) initiatives, contributing directly to Haleon's overall data strategy and operational effectiveness.
This position involves extensive cross-functional collaboration and offers the opportunity to influence a critical, strategic capability within a complex, multinational organization.
Role responsibilities:Data Quality & Stewardship Support- Perform routine data quality checks on assigned data domains to validate accuracy, completeness, and consistency, for Master and Transactional data.
- Ensure effective governance of master data throughout its lifecycle, including reviewing, validating, and correcting attributes, hierarchies, and mappings, with primary focus on Product, Customer, and Pricing data.
- Continuously monitor data quality, proactively identifying issues, performing root-cause analysis, and defining remediation actions.
- Manage data quality escalations, working closely with markets and operating units to resolve data and process issues.
Business & Stakeholder Engagement- Collaborate with Data Owners, Business Process Owners / Value Stream Leads, and technical Product Owners to define and enforce data definitions, business rules, standards, policies, and procedures.
- Act as a trusted data partner to commercial and operational stakeholders, translating business needs into clear data requirements.
- Lead and facilitate data forums and working groups to discuss challenges, share insights, and drive alignment and engagement.
- Provide subject-matter expertise on assigned data domains and market archetypes, particularly indirect and distributor-driven markets.
Data Standards, Playbooks & Enablement- Develop and maintain data standards, guidelines, and playbooks to enable consistent data maintenance and adoption of new capabilities.
- Support change initiatives by ensuring data readiness and clear guidance during system enhancements or process transformations.
- Promote best practices in data stewardship and contribute to continuous improvement of EDM processes.
Systems, Tools & Data Flows- Maintain a strong understanding of end-to-end data flows, including inputs and outputs for capabilities such as Customer Planning (e.g. Visualfabriq), Trade Promotions, and Net Revenue Management.
- Validate and reconcile data across multiple sources, including SAP, Trade Promotion Management systems, POS and sell-out portals, and third-party providers (e.g. NielsenIQ/IRI).
- Utilize enterprise data management tools such as Informatica IDMC to support governance and data quality activities.
Team and Leadership - Manage and develop Data Stewards as required.
- Manage and use external resources to deliver objectives as required.
- Drive the collaboration across the Data Steward community.
Why you?Basic Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Data, Information Systems, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- 5 years' experience in data stewardship, data governance, or a closely related role.
- Demonstrated experience delivering or supporting complex, cross-functional data initiatives.
- Knowledge of relevant data governance standards, policies, and regulatory requirements, and their practical application.
- Experience working with cross-functional and geographically distributed teams
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel for advanced data analysis.
- Experience with Trade Promotion Management, POS/sell-out data, and market data providers, such as NielsenIQ/IRI.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to lead root-cause analysis and define corrective actions.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data topics into actionable insights.
- Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous environments and manage multiple priorities across regions and functions.
- Confidence influencing without authority and driving adoption of standards in a federated organization.
Preferred Qualifications- Understanding of the CPG/FMCG industry, including commercial processes, customers, and competitive dynamics.
- Commercial acumen and a strong appetite to understand and apply business context to data decisions.
- Strong working knowledge of Informatica IDMC, Data Quality & Governance.
- Working knowledge of SAP ECC, master data management concepts, and enterprise data landscapes.
- Knowledge of SQL and Power BI.
