Senior Data Analytics Analyst

The Opportunity

This Senior Data Analytics Analyst works out of our Des Plaines, IL location in Abbott Molecular Diagnostics. Abbott Molecular Diagnostics is a leader in molecular diagnostics and the analysis of DNA, RNA, and proteins at the molecular level.

The Senior Data Analytics Analyst leverages data and analytical tools to support senior leadership by extracting valuable insights and making data-driven decisions for an organization. This role specializes in business analytics services such as business intelligence, market and customer research and analysis, and dashboard creation for business units and integrated services groups

What You’ll Work On

  • Design, communicate, and execute project plans that deliver business objectives on time and within budget.
  • Define project scope, schedules, resource requirements, budgets, and success metrics while proactively identifying and mitigating risks.
  • Monitor project performance, track milestones, and resolve operational challenges to minimize delays and ensure successful execution.
  • Coordinate internal teams, external partners, and specialized resources to support project deliverables.
  • Lead project meetings, provide status updates to stakeholders, and develop reports that communicate progress, risks, and key outcomes.
  • Coach and mentor project team members, fostering collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Leverage diverse data sources to evaluate business performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Design, develop, and maintain reporting solutions that provide visibility into critical business metrics and operational performance.
  • Translate complex datasets into clear, actionable insights for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Create compelling presentations, business assessments, and executive-level recommendations that support strategic decision making.
  • Acquire, integrate, and analyze data from multiple systems, databases, and business applications.
  • Apply appropriate analytical techniques, statistical methods, and visualization tools to uncover trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Develop analytical strategies that address complex business challenges by identifying relevant data, conducting analysis, and delivering meaningful recommendations.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to understand operational needs and translate them into scalable reporting and analytics solutions.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance data capabilities, reporting processes, and operational workflows.
  • Develop and implement process improvements that increase efficiency, accuracy, and business value.
  • Proactively recommend solutions by understanding how data is generated, utilized, and consumed across the organization.
  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices in analytics, reporting, visualization, and business intelligence.
  • Utilize tools such as Excel, Power BI, Azure, SQL, and other business intelligence platforms to support analysis and reporting needs.
  • Collaborate closely with data teams, business leaders, and subject matter experts to drive knowledge sharing and promote analytical best practices.
  • Work across functions to leverage business systems and operational data sources, enabling data-informed decisions that support organizational goals.
  • Build strong partnerships with stakeholders to ensure project success and alignment with broader business strategies.

  • Knowledge of and experience with data modeling and data warehousing concepts and tools, including SAS, SQL, and related programming languages.
  • Experience working with large datasets, including data cleaning, preprocessing, transformation, and validation techniques.
  • Ability to identify patterns, correlations, and trends within data to generate actionable insights related to business operations, customer behavior, and market dynamics.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to summarize and convey complex data findings to both technical audiences and business leaders.
  • Strong influencing and consulting skills with the ability to translate analytical insights into strategic business recommendations for senior management and key stakeholders.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in collaborative team environments.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong interpersonal and professional relationships across cross-functional and internal teams.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, both internal and external, including executives, managers, and other professionals, to provide data-driven insights and recommendations that support strategic decision-making.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in data analytics, data science, statistics, mathematics, information technology, science or related field.
  • 4-6 years of experience as a Data Analyst, Data Scientist, Business Intelligence Analyst, or related profession.
  • Experience with the Microsoft 365 Power Platform, including Power BI, Power Automate, and Power Apps.
  • Proven project experience utilizing data analysis and visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, and Excel.
  • Basic programming experience with one or more languages, including Python, R, Java, C++, or equivalent.
  • Working experience with SQL and database applications.
  • Experience leading or supporting medium to large-scale projects.
