Job Description

KIPP TEAM & Family's Data, Technology and Innovation Team (DTI) seeks a Data Analyst to develop and maintain trusted dashboards and reports across academics, student operations and enrollment, and compliance. You will work directly with leaders to build data products that help our students on their path to college, careers and choice-filled lives.

Our stack includes SQL, dbt, the Cube semantic layer, Tableau, Git and Claude, to name a few. Our analytics engineering work runs through an AI-assisted development workflow with version control and code review. Over the next year, we plan to replace Tableau with BI-as-code tools, and you will help shape that shift.

Here's what you'll be doing:

Build Trusted Data Products (60%)
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and reports across academic, enrollment and compliance data, with an equity lens
  • Help lead our move from Tableau to BI-as-code tools
  • Create documentation and training that drive consistent, confident use and scalable development

Develop and Maintain Data Models (25%)
  • Build, test and document dbt models and Cube semantic-layer metrics in our shared repository
  • Ship work through our development cycle: branches, pull requests, code review and automated checks
  • Use AI-assisted tools like Claude to work faster, while verifying every output and protecting student privacy

Support Users and Drive Improvement Cycles (15%)
  • Work directly with stakeholders, from teachers to board members, to integrate their feedback and build data products people can use effectively
  • Manage life cycle of project intake and request tracking for data products

Qualifications

Must Haves
  • Love of data, problem-solving, and collaboration, and a drive to learn
  • A proven record of building trust with a wide range of teammates
  • Deep commitment to both racial and educational equity
  • Strong SQL skills
  • Experience with Tableau or other business intelligence tools
  • Experience with K-12 academic or operations data
  • Clear writing and communication, and attention to detail that protects data integrity
  • Model KIPP TEAM & Family's Be The Change values: Kid Focus, Radical Love, Excellence, Team & Fun

Preferred
  • 3+ years in a K-12 school operations, data, or technology role
  • Experience with dbt or a similar transformation framework, or with a semantic layer such as Cube
  • Comfort with Git and GitHub workflows: pull requests, code review and CI/CD
  • Hands-on experience with AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., Claude Code)
  • Experience with BI-as-code tools or Python for data work
  • Experience with a cloud data warehouse (BigQuery preferred)
  • Experience with student enrollment or state compliance reporting
