The Task Force for Global Health, based in Atlanta and founded nearly 40 years ago to advance health equity, works with partners in more than 150 countries to eliminate diseases, ensure access to vaccines and essential medicines, and strengthen health systems to protect populations. The CHAMPS Network is a global health initiative that generates timely, high-quality data on the causes of child mortality. By integrating clinical, laboratory, epidemiologic, and social science approaches, CHAMPS strengthens the evidence base for preventing childhood deaths in low and middle-income countries.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Creates and maintains a data dictionary and meta data.
• Supports efforts to ensure that data standards are developed and maintained.
• Ensures that the uses of data through reports and queries are accurate.
• Supports business and system re-engineering and architecture development to define future data needs.
• Serves as an organizational consultant on matters relating to databases by providing expertise to assist users in meeting their needs. Performs other related duties as required.
• Supports the acquisition, management and analysis of data from multiple sites or sources.
• Supports the configuration and management of technology solutions supporting the receipt, transformation, validation and storage of data.
• Ensures that the uses of data through reports and queries are appropriate.
• Serves as an organizational consultant on matters relating to databases by providing expertise to assist users in meeting their needs.
• Develops automated quality control procedures to assess quality of data and provides reports to data owners.
• Works effectively within a group setting in areas of design of data collection instruments, database management, analysis of data, and creation of reports and dashboards.
• Develops and performs appropriate analyses.
• Provides explanations of analysis methods, assumptions made, and assists in interpretation of results and implications therein.
• Documents methods and results through development and maintenance of standard documentation artifacts including data dictionaries, standard operating procedures and analysis methodology descriptions.
• Works with onsite or field-based counterparts to coordinate consistent implementation of data quality control measures and provision of access to the central data repositories.
• Performs related responsibilities as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• A bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, and three years of experience in processes and standards related to data, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Experience with relational database management systems such as, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL preferred.
• Experience with statistical packages such as, SAS, SPSS, R preferred.

TRAVEL:

There is no anticipated travel associated with this role.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master's degree in informatics, data science, epidemiology, biostatistics or closely-related field.
• Advanced proficiency in R, including data management, data cleaning, and analysis of complex datasets.
• Experience creating analytical datasets from multiple data sources.
• Experience writing and validating data quality rules.
• Demonstrated proficiency in RMarkdown for reproducible reporting.
• Experience managing multi-site study data.
• Data fluency in surveillance, molecular testing, microbiology testing, histopathology, clinical records, verbal autopsy, and/or demographic survey data.
• Experience working in global health programs, particularly in Sub-Saharan Africa or South Asia.
• Experience using high-performance computing environments.

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs. Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department. This role requires residency in the state of GA. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
