Description

NexGen Data Systems is seeking a detail-oriented Senior Cybersecurity Auditor to provide rigorous network protocol auditing, boundary defense compliance tracking, and formal configuration control representation for USTRANSCOM. The scope of this project is to manage the lifecycle risk of network infrastructure interfaces, validating compliance against strict federal security boundaries across the combatant command enterprise.

The Cybersecurity Auditor - Senior will serve as the technical expert for the DoD Ports, Protocols, and Services Management (PPSM) registry, evaluating inbound/outbound connection requests and analyzing active firewall matrices to prevent unauthorized network entry.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Manage the lifecycle risk posture of enterprise network interfaces, registering combatant command systems into the official DoD PPSM repository.
  • Provide expert technical representation and advisory support during high-level Configuration Control Board (CCB) and Technical Advisory Group (TAG) meetings.
  • Perform advanced boundary defense mechanism audits, reviewing live firewall rule sets to find hidden compliance policy violations.
  • Conduct complex technical port vulnerability assessments, ensuring all network transaction configurations map cleanly to authorized enclaves.
  • Compile and deliver high-fidelity Boundary Compliance and PPSM Metrics Reports within 3 business days of any major architectural change request.
  • Verify that active network transport layers comply with DISA Network Infrastructure Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).
  • Collaborate across the Joint Deployment and Distribution Enterprise (JDDE) to resolve cross-domain protocol registration issues.

Requirements

Desired/Required Skills:
  • Clearance Required: Active Department of Defense Top Secret/SCI (Tier 5 Investigation) required.
  • Location: On-site at Scott Air Force Base (AFB), IL.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering OR 5 years' experience with a technical certification.
  • REQUIRED Cyber Baseline: Active DoD 8570.01-M / DoDM 8140 IAT Level II or higher certification (e.g., Security+ CE, CySA+, or CISA).
  • REQUIRED Computing Environment: Active DoD PPSM Registry Administrator training qualification or equivalent network auditing credential.
  • REQUIRED Foundational Qualification: Defense Cyber Crime Center (DC3) Cyber 101 course completion.
  • 6-9 years' relevant network auditing, firewall administration, or protocol compliance experience.
  • Clear, deep understanding of network transport concepts: TCP/IP, HTTP, SMTP, SNMP, DNS, DHCP, and secure routing protocols.
  • Strong familiarity with DISA Ports, Protocols and Services category classification tables and boundary defense reference architectures.
