Full Job Description
Under the direct supervision of the Senior Vice President & Associate General Counsel, Global Litigation & Intermediaries (SVP), the Senior Counsel will support global anti-piracy legal matters on behalf of the Motion Picture Association, Inc. ("MPA"), the Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment ("ACE"), and MPA/ACE member companies, including copyright litigation and related enforcement initiatives. This position will also play a key role in advancing ACE's intermediary strategy by engaging with participants across the digital ecosystem to combat digital piracy through proactive outreach, strategic partnerships and intelligence-driven initiatives that enable intermediaries to detect, deter and disrupt piracy operations. The Senior Counsel will work closely with MPA member companies, intermediaries, technology platforms, vendors and industry partners to support enforcement efforts, develop anti-piracy strategies and foster collaboration across the digital ecosystem.

Salary Range: $175,000 to $185,000
Location: Washington, DC or Los Angeles, CA
  • Support outreach to intermediaries, including drafting and reviewing correspondence, managing communications and tracking engagements.
  • Assist with coordinating voluntary initiatives with intermediaries to help prevent their services from being abused by piracy operators.
  • Work closely with global team members, vendors, partners and other stakeholders to ensure the efficient and cost-effective delivery of program objectives. This includes analyzing and synthesizing vendor data to share with intermediaries or for use by MPA/ACE.
  • Support the SVP in managing MPA's global content protection civil litigation and administrative matters, including coordination with regional VPs.
  • Assist with strategic planning activities for ACE & MPA CP-related initiatives and events.
  • Draft communications to member studios highlighting content protection legal accomplishments or intermediary updates.
  • Coordinate with the Communications Team on content protection messaging and materials to amplify achievements.
  • Provide legal support to MPA's global content protection investigations.
  • Support financial planning and budget management activities and ensure the effective administration of legal and enforcement program resources.
  • Collaborate with and support advocacy efforts by regional government affairs teams related to content protection enforcement.
  • Other related tasks and projects as assigned.


Education and Experience Requirements
  • Juris Doctor degree and active bar membership in good standing.
  • Minimum of 6-7 years of legal experience in copyright law or content protection matters.
  • Must possess the highest level of professionalism, work ethic, integrity and ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Must possess excellent analytical, legal, research and writing skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve practical problems and carry out responsibilities under minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to write correspondence and reports to present information in one-on-one and group situations.
  • Must display sound judgment, initiative and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Must possess the ability to effectively interact with a wide range of individuals and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be willing to travel.


Preferred
  • Background in a large firm environment, including direct experience with litigation matters.
  • Familiarity with digital content platforms, social media, search engines, payment processors and other digital intermediaries.
