OverviewAre you passionate about administrative law and employment law? WorkSafeBC's Law and Policy division is seeking a
Senior Counsel and Manager, Administrative Law and Employment Law (Senior Manager, Legal Services) with at least 7 years of experience to join us. The Senior Manager will lead a team of professionals and oversee the written hearing process for prohibited action complaints made under the Workers Compensation Act ("WCA") related to workplace reprisals for exercising health and safety rights.
How you'll make a difference: You'll ensure WorkSafeBC is serving stakeholders across B.C. effectively.
What you'll do - Provide senior leadership to the managers, lawyers and support staff accountable for the prohibited action complaints adjudication process.
- Provide strategic legal direction and oversight to ensure proceedings are conducted fairly and efficiently and aligned with applicable law and policy.
- Lead and support the delivery of high quality, timely and well-reasoned decisions, fostering excellence in legal analysis, writing and decision-making.
- Lead and develop the legal team, setting direction for professional development and building legal capability through coaching, mentorship and thoughtful guidance
- Exercise sound judgment in navigating complex legal and operational issues, balancing competing priorities and risks.
- Be responsive to and work collaboratively with stakeholders, including the Workers' Advisers Office, the Employers' Advisers Office and the Workers' Compensation Appeal Tribunal, to ensure the efficient functioning of the prohibited action complaints process
- Identify opportunities to continuously improve service delivery, processes and practices, and lead initiatives that enhance the efficiency, quality and effectiveness of the adjudication function.

Your background and experience - A law degree (LLB or JD)
- A member in good standing with the Law Society of British Columbia
- A minimum of 7 years of experience practicing administrative law and/or employment law
- Strong and proven leadership, management and/or supervisory experience is preferred

Salary: $172,627- $209,742/annually
