The Role: The
Senior Corporate Accountant plays a critical role within Cart.com's Accounting organization, supporting a dynamic mix of corporate accounting, financial reporting, technical accounting, and process improvement initiatives.
This role is ideal for a highly motivated accounting professional who enjoys solving complex accounting challenges and wants exposure beyond traditional month-end close responsibilities. At Cart.com, our accounting team wears multiple hats, and you'll have the opportunity to work across a variety of accounting disciplines while gaining exposure to complex business models, revenue streams, and transactions.
Reporting to the Senior Director, Assistant Controller, you will partner closely with Accounting, Finance, Treasury, Legal, Operations, and external auditors to ensure accurate financial reporting, support technical accounting matters, strengthen internal controls, and drive scalable accounting processes.
This role offers significant visibility and impact. Unlike larger organizations where responsibilities may be narrowly defined, you'll have direct ownership over meaningful work and see the immediate impact of your contributions on the business.
What You'll Do:Corporate Accounting & Month-End Close- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and supporting schedules across multiple accounting areas.
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities with a focus on accuracy, timeliness, and scalability.
- Analyze balance sheet and income statement fluctuations and perform detailed variance analysis.
- Partner with accounting leadership to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial results.
Technical Accounting & Financial Reporting- Assist in evaluating complex accounting transactions and business initiatives under U.S. GAAP.
- Support preparation of technical accounting analyses and accounting memorandums.
- Contribute to quarterly and annual financial reporting requirements and disclosure support.
- Assist with implementation and adoption of new accounting standards as needed.
Audit & Compliance- Serve as a key contributor during external audit engagements.
- Prepare audit support schedules and respond to auditor requests.
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls and accounting documentation.
- Support SOX-readiness and compliance initiatives as the organization continues to scale.
Process Improvement & Automation- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, controls, and close activities.
- Support automation initiatives designed to enhance efficiency and reduce manual effort.
- Partner with Finance and Accounting teams to implement scalable processes that support the company's growth trajectory.
Cross-Functional Partnership- Collaborate with Treasury, Legal, Operations, Revenue Accounting, FP&A, and Finance teams on new initiatives and business activities.
- Research accounting impacts of operational and commercial decisions.
- Help bridge technical accounting requirements with practical business execution.

What You've Done:- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 4-7 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Public accounting experience required.
- Strong preference for Big Four experience (PwC, Deloitte, EY, or KPMG).
- Experience supporting audits, financial reporting, and corporate accounting functions.
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP.
- Experience preparing account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial analyses.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience working with large data sets.
- CPA certification or active pursuit of CPA preferred.
- Experience in a high-growth, private equity-backed, technology, logistics, eCommerce, or service-based business is a plus.
Nice to Haves: - Big Four public accounting experience.
- Prior exposure to technical accounting research and memorandum preparation.
- Experience with lease accounting (ASC 842), stock compensation, debt accounting, or revenue recognition.
- Experience with Alteryx, Power BI, Business Central, or other automation tools.
- Experience leveraging AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, or similar technologies to improve accounting workflows and analysis.
