Controls Engineer to fill an opening with a manufacturing company located in St. Clair, MI
Requirements of the Senior Controls Engineer - Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field , preferred
- 5-7 years of experience as a Controls Engineer, preferred
- Experience Allen Bradley and Siemens and PLC/HMI systems
- Industrial protocols such as Ethernet, Profibus, RS-232, Devicenet, DH+
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time to North American Plants, including Mexico
- Ability to setup, troubleshoot, and maintain PLC control systems and related accessories
- Ability to setup, troubleshoot, and maintain VFD and Servo motor controls
- Basic LAN knowledge and functionality (TCP/IP)
- Basic LAN hardware knowledge (switches, cabling, routers)
- Ability to perform Software installation/upgrading
- Knowledge of manufacturing equipment and systems involving thermoforming, IR ovens, Hot Air ovens, Ultrasonic Welding, and robotics
- Knowledge of safety systems and the integration of those systems.
- Ability to communicate cross functionally with both plant and corporate teams

Responsibilities of the Senior Controls Engineer - Design, update, and continuously improve controls systems including robotics, Allen Bradley and Siemens PLC logic, electrical distribution, motor controls, motion controls, operator interfaces, hydraulics and pneumatics controls, and vision systems
- Integrate machine and plant networking solutions to provide remote access to equipment, equipment monitoring and data storage, and Poke-Yoke traceability
- Able to work with OEMs to guarantee new equipment is designed and built to company s and national & local authority s safety and controls standards
- Integrate various barcode reading and OCR systems into various equipment and secondary tooling
- Coordinate in a professional and effective manner with all levels of management, engineering, maintenance, etc to ensure new equipment and upgrades are implemented in the best possible means
- Candidate is expected to teach themselves functionality of new devices and controls systems as technology advances and equipment is updated
- Manage timelines and costs with each project
- Assist in identifying critical spares on new and current equipment.
- Mentor and train plant controls engineers where applicable.
