Project Overview:

Join us as we make history at the Hanford Vit Plant, known as the Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant. We are designing and building a one-of-a-kind facility that will turn radioactive and chemical waste left over from World War II and Cold War plutonium production into a form safe for disposal. Your efforts will help protect the nearby Columbia River and the communities, salmon, and wildlife along its shorelines throughout the Northwest.

Sitting at the confluence of the Columbia, Snake and Yakima rivers near two mountain ranges, our community provides access to year-round outdoor recreation, 300 days of sun a year, more than 200 wineries within a 50-mile radius, and the amenities of large cities just a three-hour drive (or short flight) to Seattle and Portland.

Job Summary:

The Contractor Assurance Specialist will report to the Contractor Assurance System (CAS) Manager in the Quality Assurance Organization and will support the maintenance, development, and implementation of the WTP Contractor Assurance program. Positions located at the Construction Site (22 miles north of Richland) work a 4 x 10 schedule, M-Th, 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Other work locations may work a 9-80's schedule, M-F 7:00 am to 4:30 pm with alternating Fridays off. This position is a full-time role that offers part-time telework flexibility in the Richland, Washington project office. Upon initial hire and onboarding, the position will require full time presence in the Richland, Washington project office, then may offer part-time telework flexibility. This position works a 9/80 schedule, offering every other Friday off.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Monitors and evaluates project execution/implementation of Contractor Assurance programs
  • Prepares and/or presents on Contractor Assurance program requirements and initiatives
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with designated client personnel
  • Supports implementation of contractor assurance programs including closed loop corrective action, assessments, metrics, trending, and lessons learned
  • Develops and maintains project Contractor Assurance documents
  • Provides just-in-time, as well as formal training, to line organizations
  • Supports software upgrades, application functional maintenance activities, lifecycle documentation development support, application testing, and user guide and FAQ development
  • Provide feedback and coaching to line organizations regarding action development and overall corrective action management
  • Monitor incoming requests for assistance (desk side customer support) for closed loop corrective action management process and provide software support and issue resolution


Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's degree in a related field (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience


Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Must possess the right to work and remain in the United States without Bechtel visa sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical (if located at the construction site), and background check which includes verification of employment and education.
  • Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site. (Even if teleworking, must still be able to comply with security requirements to obtain a badge)
  • Non-U.S. citizens from countries identified by the Department of Energy as posing heightened security concerns-including sensitive countries, state sponsors of terrorism, countries of risk, and other designated countries-are subject to additional security requirements that limit site access.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Strong problem solving and end-user support skills
  • Candidates possess the right to work and remain in the US without sponsorship
  • Experience providing desk-side software support
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to document in written format technical processes in a clear and concise manner
  • Ability to use a computer and intermediate skills in Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and SharePoint.
  • Ability to work closely with technical teams, senior leadership, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders in developing and managing Contractor Assurance system/processes.
  • Knowledge of nonconformance and deficiency reports for nonconforming or deficient items.
  • Root/Apparent Cause Analysis training
  • Technical knowledge in Contractor Assurance processes (such as closed loop corrective action, assessments, trending, metrics, and lessons learned) sufficient to comprehend the application of and relationships of technical and quality requirements.
  • Knowledge of monitoring performance, analyzing issues, reporting on progress to appropriate levels of management, and making recommendations for actions to improve Contractor Assurance implementation.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams for various business functions (e.g., assessments, corrective action management).
  • Ability to use data modeling software, such as PowerBI.
